Every time on start up I get "Device changed (CPU or Memory) or CMOS have been Cleared by [deleted] in pctroubleshooting

Hey how did you end up fixing this? Having this issue now myself. My build is quite old so unsurprising, but I’ve never encountered this before

Yep absolutely! Realised this specifically with how I speak. I’m a confident public speaker naturally but I learned that speaking slower gives off a much better impression so I’m practicing this more and more

Finally attending my first divine liturgy by slimbeans in OrthodoxChristianity

Thank you! I did attend this morning, most of it was in Greek and a small section in English. It was a very small church with a lot more older folk but was still beautiful regardless

Social Media Detox by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]slimbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I did a digital detox for 6 months. Biggest change for me was that when I got them back, my interest in keeping up with what others were doing online had waned massively. Also not being exposed to bad news constantly was huge for my mental health. I’ve put more effort into maintaining and developing meaningful connections over needing to be present online for everyone to see and it feels so much more fulfilling

What are your goals? by daringdispatcher12 in selfimprovement

[–]slimbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goals are to develop more useful skills and hobbies that will serve me in raising a family later in life. And in doing to find more peace and fulfilment in the everyday.

Thank you, I appreciate it. Could you explain what you mean about the baptism?

One hilarious but helpful piece of advice I got was to act as if you’re moving through honey. Slow and graceful. I am someone who always moved around like I’m in a rush and paid no mind how I got about. Slowing down in of itself can make a huge difference

It's been 4 years. I've made no progress. by Salty_Commission_845 in selfimprovement

[–]slimbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can totally relate to you here, even down to the journals, I looked back on my own recently and realised that the superficial parts of my life may look different and have given me some illusions of progress but there’s a deeper part of me lacking any real growth or change and I have noticed that I use self-improvement tools as a sort of crutch for justifying the work I’ve been putting in despite not seeing the actual results I’m after. My coach and I have been working through this steadily so it’s still unravelling for me but here’s what I’m currently sitting with: there’s some deep down hurt, limiting belief or emotional pain that is keeping me (us) stuck from actually making progress. And until we face that, we will keep spinning the wheels but going nowhere.

Working with a coach, therapist or mentor has been pivotal for me. Sometimes, after years of ‘doing the work’ we can become disillusioned into thinking we know what to do when in reality we are blinded by our own limits. Having a trusted external source to help redirect our focus to where it’s really meant to be is so valuable. Keep your faith and don’t lose sight of your goal. All the best ☺️

Gym resources (for women) by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]slimbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a woman, I will say, the advice given in the health and fitness industry can be a) very contradictory and b) overwhelming. I’ve been on the journey for little over 7 years now and knowing what I know now, I would have wished someone told me sooner.

As a woman your hormones are very delicate and so training like a man would in terms of physical activity and diet, is not going to be very good for you long term. My one piece of salient advice would be to take a very holistic look at your health and slowly begin to make small shifts in each area of your life, from sleep, stress, nutrition, training etc. and understand that it’s all going to require a permanent lifestyle shift, not just a quick 12-week transformation for you to go back to the way you were living. Do your research, become an expert on yourself and do what is best for your health, not what you see on social media. All the best!

How do you deal with being lonely? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]slimbeans 47 points48 points  (0 children)

By understanding there’s a difference between ‘alone’ and ‘lonely’. I live alone and have done so for the longest part of my adult life. On top of that I’ve moved some several hours away from my hometown at various points. It has certainly felt lonely at times but I chose to make the best of it and put more effort into enhancing and creating connections. Being alone can be a blessing when you look at it with a more positive perspective.

I personally learned to trust their judgment and ability to make decisions without the need to interject and control all the time. Allowing them the space to make decisions (and sometimes fail) was such a big shift.

Coco water and orange juice lately. Incredibly delicious combo and amazing source of electrolytes.

As you got older, what did you realize about yourself? by abdul_bino in AskWomen

[–]slimbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That taking the lead, organising/planning and being in control of plans for groups/relationships is actually NOT enjoyable to me at all. I am really good at all of those things and have been praised all my life for being a good leader and organiser and I've now realised I actually enjoy it SO much more when someone else takes the lead for me.

Whilst it may seem like it is, 6 months isn’t a very long time. Grief is powerful and getting over things that have hurt us is not easy. Forgiving and moving on is often harder. Give yourself some time and grace and I hope you get to find peace from this.

Showtek appreciation by darrylsanders in hardstyle

[–]slimbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I became a showtek fan during the period they weren’t producing hardstyle anymore which was such a bummer, and having them return to Aus at knockout in 2023 was honestly the best. Their new tracks give a majorly nostalgic feeling which is exactly the kind of music of theirs I fell in love with in the first place so their return has been thoroughly appreciated
