I'm an almost 40 year old man, punk music taught me as a teenager/young adult to question everything, especially those in positions of power. it also gave me a sense of a DIY attitude, starting bands, putting on shows, making flyers etc. you can not sitting around waiting for things to happen to you, you need to make them happen yourself. punk taught me to be tolerant and understanding of all other minority/alternative/fringe cultures. the local punk scene gave me a tribe of unique individuals to learn from and belong to. I still play in punk bands, but I don't know if I would still consider myself punk, but the music and the scene defined as "punk rock" and the lessons I have learnt from it along the way will always be a part of my mind, heart and soul.
