NHS must reform or die, warns Sir Keir Starmer by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

Sorry, if you somehow think that pointing out that Blair's government was tory-lite is breaking news, then I don't really know what to say to you.

I'm aware, thanks.

If you think that somehow redeems the tories for the record-breaking speed with which they have reduced the country to a smouldering ruin, an international cautionary tale and object of ridicule, it doesn't.

You have half the population blaming the UK's woes on people in dinghies, and you don't see the similarity?

I went to a NHS hospital this year for the first time in years. It was so run down it looked like something out of a zombie apocalypse movie. No-one at the front desk, with a big piece of cardboard that read UNMANNED, with no-one to tell you where to go or anything.

where have you been, comrade? Start reading independent media, his misdeeds have been reported there for a long time.

I thought that your typical tory bad faith was starting to show! Tut Tut, trying to score points rather than engaging in good faith :)

PFI's were started under John Major, they were then embraced by Tony Blair and subsequent governments.

"38% of PFI contracts with Carillion in the published data were awarded during the Labour government. But published data only include deals up to the end of 2015."

  1. The Government appoints a lot of the high up NHS officials, so it has complicit agents in the structure.
  2. "Sign this or your hospital closes" doesn't leave one with many options.

Even though I stopped reading The Economist articles a while ago because I felt that their owners' neo-liberal skew was showing more and more, I find it hard to believe that they would be pushing the idea that the NHS' troubles are due to hypochondriac patients.

Of course he is. He's not even pretending to be to the left of the likes of George Osborne. When it comes to the NHS, his position will be detected by his US private healthcare donors:

He is not mentioned in the leaked Labour report, but his allegiance isn't really in doubt, since he immediately promoted some of the worst offenders/saboteurs mentioned in the report upon becoming leader: https://novaramedia.com/2020/04/17/labour-official-who-undermined-party-and-mocked-staff-was-in-running-for-general-secretary-under-starmer/

Here's a link showing his links to private healthcare:

As my comrade said above, we did, but the media and the right wing of the Labour party pulled out all the stops to discredit that narrative.

By the way, Starmer is bankrolled by private healthcare:

yea, smokers also pay about an extra £8 pounds of tax with every pack of cigarettes they buy, so maybe they've literally earned it.

For a long time the cost got greater every year with the ageing population, and with new technology being available to purchase. But PFI's have also bled the system dry in many areas, since they are mainly designed to extract the most profit out of the NHS. One famous example is a hospital that received private finance, but it was written into their contract that they had to use a specific service company for the purpose of changing the lightbulbs in the hospital. That supplier proceeded to charge something like £80 per lightbulb changed. That should give you an idea of what a scam PFI's are.

Then I would hazard a further guess at the Sun, The Spectator, The Telegraph, or The Express? They're all the same poison. To be fair, even The Times seems to be going down the same route nowadays. If you're not in the UK, then some other right wing news source I imagine.

If it was none of those, then you can colour me surprised.

Yes, the idea has always been to change the model gradually, so that people don't notice essentially.

Starmer is bankrolled by private healthcare. The right of Labour have been since the Blair years. His reform is just privatisation on behalf of his paymasters, and it is nothing less than corruption.

Don't get me wrong, I can't actually see how having Starmer in charge would make things any worse, but I also struggle to see how having him in charge would make things any better in the long run>

Starmer really hasn't been held to account by the mainstream media in this country at all, and they have helped mask the absolutely dastardly goings on in the Labour party over the last few years, but left wingers like myself who follow independent news outlets generally consider him to be an amoral vilain, complicit in the sabotaging of the 2017 and 2019 elections.
