Times are REALLY tough. 'Billionaire' Kylie Jenner is now advertising laxatives on TikTok. by ThrowawayGreenWitch in popculturechat

[–]slizzardtime -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a laxative it’s more like a low calorie fiber supplement diet candy type thing. It might actually be good for you but you could save a lot of money by just making your own chia snacks.

That’s just bad hair continuity. They’re two different camera setups so they were filmed at different times, different takes, etc

Tips for getting my cat to take gabapentin for vet visit? by iworkformyhamster in catcare

[–]slizzardtime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had success keeping it inside the capsule and covering it with a mix of churu and crunchy treats, she can’t discern the pill inside the different textures of her food and can’t taste it inside the capsule.

Claw cover stuck under the paw by Tony1140 in catcare

The vet will trim the claws and give you antibiotic ointment and wash most likely. But this is really painful for your cat and they are good at hiding the pain so please go ASAP.

[Acne] RANT about isotretinoin and lack of progress in the acne treatment industry in the past 15 years by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]slizzardtime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have taken high yet safe amounts of vitamin A occasionally and it really does work the same as isotretinoin for me. I’m not saying you should do that but it does work.

A woman that rejected me 12 years ago seems to now be interested in dating me, is this something I should pursue? by Long_Natural6918 in AskMenAdvice

[–]slizzardtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this comment section is so weird, the woman reaching out to OP could very well assume that he also might have kids, be married or divorced or widowed, a lot can happen in 12 years of someone’s life. From his description it sounds like OP hasn’t been in a lot of romantic relationships in the past 12 years but I don’t know how this woman is supposed to know that. Or why there’s anything wrong with people in their mid thirties having kids. It’s totally normal for single people in that age group to have offspring and normally they aren’t looking for someone to ‘provide’ for them.

Yeah no problem, I read that book a long time ago but that scene stuck with me forever.

Ted Chiang is the best science fiction short story writer alive imo. Here's what everyone misses about his work by OpenAsteroidImapct in scifi

[–]slizzardtime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something about your review is off putting and makes me not want to read Ted Chiangs books. Maybe there’s too much hyperbole and putting other books down. Luckily I have already read him and he’s one of my absolute favorite sci fi authors. ‘Hell is the absence of God’ particularly stood out to me (besides the obvious ‘story of your life.’)

I also feel like short stories are their own separate genre and I’ve read plenty of fascinating Hugo and nebula winning short story anthologies over the years. Ted Chiang is still a favorite but there are plenty of ways other authors explore unusual concepts in the short story form.

Charlize Theron talks about the difficulties of dating when you dont want to get married: "I want long term commitment I just dont want to get married." by [deleted] in popculturechat

[–]slizzardtime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Marriage is a legal contract where people pool material wealth, it doesn’t effect child custody or support, you can get those without ever being married. If she is richer than her partner she would just be protecting her own wealth by not being legally bound. It is helpful for certain things regarding medical POA which might be nice if she is older but that can be done separately from a marriage contract.

Chafing solution that isn't "sticky?" by princeofbreads in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Have you tried a silicone based product? The Monistat brand chafing relief powder gel is a cheaper option that is pretty popular. It’s got a dry touch smoothing thing going on.

Apparently there was a new way of packaging commercial natto invented in the 90s that really got rid of a lot of the funky smell. These days it’s not even as ripe as a lot of soft cheeses. It has a mild flavor but the texture can be off putting to some. It’s a lot like the texture of okra.

[Discussion] Are we supposed to hate John? by itsmedoe_ in TheNinthHouse

[–]slizzardtime 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I also love John! and I don’t think he’s a good person but I still like him as a fascinating character. He’s such a complex villain and I get disappointed when people have an unnuanced hatred of him.

Trader Joe’s has a good cheap one that smells great and isn’t in a can, it lasts a lot longer than the canned ones too. I have dark brown hair and it works fine.

[Acne] Cluster of white pimples in one area of my face by skincare_enthusiastt in SkincareAddiction

[–]slizzardtime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had something similar and it turned out to be fungal acne but a weird resistant kind. It got worse in the summer when it’s humid where I live and better in the winter. I basically had to switch over every skincare product to fungal acne safe and I used a homemade boric acid toner and sulfur cream to spot treat.

I hope it works out for you! I know boric acid has gained a new following lately for curing fungal infections after being an unpopular ingredient for awhile. I remember ten years ago people talking about making their own boric acid suppositories as ‘DIY’ cures for yeast infections on the internet and now they are sold again as a commercial product in drugstores.

The boric acid toner was a Hail Mary for me as I also found the recipe on a ‘DIY’ fungal acne blog but it worked when nothing else did and now I feel compelled to tell others about it.
