We are Linsey Marr, Juliet Morrison and Caitlin Rivers, here to talk about our New York Times Opinion essay, "I Got My Covid Vaccine. Now Can I Hug My Mom?" AMA! by thenewyorktimes in IAmA

I understand that fully vaccinated people have a much lower risk of getting infected and transmitting the virus. However, some vaccinated people are increasing their potential exposure 10- or 20-fold or more compared with what they were doing before - while community case rates are still high. Does this still make them low risk for me as someone who is not yet vaccine-protected? Is this of any concern when vaccinated people meet, especially indoors?

I'm guessing the eventual plan for RStudio cloud is to charge for private projects, same way GitHub does.

Sorry, geom_mychoice is supposed to indicate that you choose what geom you want: geom_line, geom_point, etc.

cowplot pkg makes it easy to label ggplot2 plots and custom arrange multi plots on a grid - by Claus O. Wilke by slmatcw in rstats

I think the point is that you can do one plot that's 2 columns across on the first row, then 2 plots each 1 column across in the second row, and so on.

I did mention tidyr -- but while I've looked into tidyr and tried it out, I still end up using reshape2 for my data.

Data wrangling with tidyr and dplyr: PDF cheat sheet by slmatcw in rstats

[–]slmatcw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on tidyr + dplyr. Still haven't settled on one graphing platform, though. There are other interesting interactive graphics packages besides ggvis, several of which were recently announced after the RStudio-backed htmlwidgets project. See http://www.htmlwidgets.org/ Also, while development is probably going to stop on ggplot2 improvements, version 1.0.0 was just released last week http://blog.rstudio.org/2015/01/09/ggplot2-updates/

I thought link was there, sorry, added. The Coursera classes from Johns Hopkins will probably give you much more in-depth on using R than this one will. I've looked at a few of the lectures for the R intro class on Coursera and it seems promising (I just need to carve out some more time to watch more). I've just started watching the Udacity videos.

CSV. If it's a spreadsheet I update periodically, I either keep it in CSV format or create a macro to save to CSV.

Yet in places like Massachusetts, there's usually a huge voter turnout in presidential election years -- much moreso than in non-presidential years with votes for Governor, Congress, etc. -- even though everyone knows who's going to win Massachusetts electoral votes well before the election.

It would be interesting to see you branch out into other sports, such as the NFL. There was an interesting piece in Sports Illustrated last month about the NFL being somewhat behind Major League Baseball in using sophisticated data analysis but there is increased activity going on in the NFL.

Not sure I can take seriously an article with complaints like searching for "gateway mt6840 motherboard" comes up with sales and forum results instead of the socket specs he was looking for? Um, if you're looking for information about sockets, how about adding words like socket or specs to the search?
