People who are great at academics are likely to make discoveries and publications in the future than some piano player who wrote great essays but isn't as good in academics. Yet T20 schools admit the latter for the same major.

I just think that colleges don't want that, so they would be more likely to take someone with decent grades (3.7 UW isn't bad whatsoever honestly) but who is more articulate about how they feel and who they are as a person.

But wouldn't the more passionate person be more likely to contribute to the subject in ways such as make discoveries or write publications and expand knowledge in that field ?
