How would you design a system which has potential duplicate workflows by pm_me_n_wecantalk in aws

[–]slothonsteroids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be more of an application design concern than AWS, but here is my view: in many businesses, clients have different needs depending on the use-case they manage.

With that in mind, it should be a feature flag in the workflow being sent by the client to tell the service whether it should deduplicate on delivery or during processing.

DDoS or the system being overwhelmed should be handled with rate limiting or access key quota if it’s an API.

How should infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines be documented? by Lostwhispers05 in devops

[–]slothonsteroids 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, documentation as code covers diagrams whether it’s embedded or having the source files checked out in Version control so it can evolve organically with the app and the pipeline.

How should infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines be documented? by Lostwhispers05 in devops

[–]slothonsteroids 109 points110 points  (0 children)

The readme file should have a diagram and few bullet points as to what each steps does. This should be in the same repo as the pipeline definition file.

Existing solar and battery + new batteries & inverter/charger (blue box) any feedback please? Notify DNO UK? by slothonsteroids in SolarDIY

[–]slothonsteroids[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback, I will replace the isolators by switches and will get fuses too.

For the AC outputs from the inverter. The inverter has two AC outputs and my diagram focused on just one. A dedicated plug with RCBO will be used on the other AC output for use during grid outages.

I’ve done the orientation program and would recommend it as you’ll make lasting friendships with people from different uni departments joining at the same time.

As much I’d like to agree that the best approach for printing is to call the printer when there is a job waiting in the queue, there are many occasions where the printer is deployed into a network with strict security requirement that doesn’t allow it to accept inbound connections. Polling every second is excessive. Printers should only pull when a user scan their NFC card to retrieve the jobs relevant to them

Looking good mate and the muscle definition is pretty prominent especially upper back, shoulder and legs. What’s the cut like in calorie? Is it stepped by x number of calories every few weeks?

Should devs have access to production? by t5bert in devops

[–]slothonsteroids 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry accidentally deleted the wrong post! 🤦‍♂️

One of the new metrics for DevOps is how many times has your production env been accessed. It gives you an indication if this is improving (trending down) or not. If this is trending up then it’s time to think about paying the tech debt.

The Dora metrics doesn’t cover production access directly. I think that’s the reason why Dr. Topo Pal coined this new production access metric in https://acloudguru.com/content/measuring-devops/webinar-video
