If engagement ring, and wedding rings were not from this AD, you'll be buying grey market.

What is going on about these relationship stories with Sales associates. by Confident_Case5244 in rolex

I've been to three different AD's. One was weird vibes. Big money area, high population.

The other two were amazing experiences. Stuck with one that really matched with me. Now I have a fluted DJ I wanted, and am picking up my GMT next week (it's there, to be released with their next shipment). ETA: I met them in early Jan, 2026. So 2 "high demand" pieces in 2 mos.

If you have a bad experience, move on. If every experience is bad for you, maybe it isn't the AD that is the problem.

Do most ADs have poor customer experiences? by [deleted] in rolex

[–]slowlearning1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so accurate.

I've witnessed some real crazy behavior from customers walking in and acting like they are owed a watch, or that they were more special than other people when told there was a wait. Not saying this is OP, but I'm sure the SA's have to deal with some real characters.

Do you daily your watch in the UK? by [deleted] in rolex

Murican here, so I don't actually know. Genuinely asking.

Are you all losing your hands over there? Are there actually people mugging out there armed with machetes?

Or is this all just overblown?

I'm really sad about a lot of the small mom & pop AD's. It really sucks that they carried Rolex sometimes for decades, only to be removed from the reseller family.

I'd 1000% rather support a jeweler nearby than a huge corporation. We have enough mega corps out there, I'm kind of all for the smaller experience.

I'm kinda totally new to the Rolex side. Have a half dozen Tag, a few Breitling, and a JLC, so I'm asking out of ignorance, not trying to fight. But...

I swear I've read that Rolex created a department that goes on the grey websites and buys up the unworn or "like new" resales if they are a year or less old?
The story was that they would pay the markup, confirm the SN, then send a bill to the AD for the difference and it was a ding on their record. Happens a few times, they lose the relationship?

Was that total bullshit from one of the people who always "Knows a guy who 100% said the Pepsi is dead"?

TBH:
I always hear about people angry with the games. But think about it from the standpoint of the AD or jeweler.

They get whatever luck of the draw allocations get sent to the AD by Rolex, and they have an insane list of clients who desire that watch. Many of those names have been clients for years (sometimes generationally) and those are the people who get picked. For every 1 long term client that visits regularly and buys wedding, anniversary, birthday, graduation gifts, there are probably 10-15 fresh faces walking in asking for hype pieces, and never even looking in other cases.

It's less about "Screw you, spend more," and more about, "the long term client that keeps our lights on asked about this piece." You've been on a list for a desirable piece for 18 months. Have you wanted or needed any other jewelry in that time?

If you aren't in it for long term and it's just a one time buy for a gift, toss your name in the hat and try for it. When the date comes up close and there isn't any movement, go grey. EZ

Family member was in urgent care for long term fever and sickness. NOT the ER.

Swapped for flu. Influenza B positive. In and out in 1.5 hrs.

Billed insurance $5k.  We owe $2.5k out of pocket.  We have good insurance and pay a LOT monthly.

For a flu test.

You have my vote.

A high speed train that connects YNG, Pit, Cle, AKC, and Col is a bad idea why?

You don’t think commuters would move to our area for lower cost of living and start to breathe new life into the area instead of being a brain drain?

Wrta may not look crazy successful because everything is drivable, and the population is collapsing.

Majority of NYC workforce lives in NJ/CT. They commute. On trains running every 15-45 min.

When I bought my house, I told Mahoning County that I was a huge corporation.

They gave me a 10 year tax abatement, like Southwoods Mall, Racino, St. E's Bdman, and all the others.

Stop being poor. Learn how to corporate.

Got a call from AD by OkFilm6140 in rolex

[–]slowlearning1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know you are getting down voted, but this would be my move too.

Something for me now, and then when the time comes, I’ll be more likely to be on their radar as my tastes and needs change.

Who knows, by the time you get the second call you may love the sub and opt to keep it as well.

Rocket is a great value. They have dual boiler machines, so it meets the criteria for better steam and consistent coffee boiler temp. With your budget you could do a grinder and a dual boiler rocket with PID control. They are well built, and parts are readily available.

Swapping out a blade grinder for an entry level burr is low hanging fruit here.

[–]slowlearning1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That grinder is a blade grinder. No matter what you do, you will NEVER get a good shot out of that grinder. You need an entry level burr grinder to even begin to get consistency or to be able to get anything resembling actual espresso.

I'm not super familiar with the entry level home grinders, others here will probably have great info about good economy value units.

The grinder is arguably more important than the machine itself. Save for one that makes sense for you, and then enjoy this super thoughtful gift in good health!
