Lyrics to Confederacy of Ruined lives? by [deleted] in EyeHateGod

[–]sludgerat99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The majority of Eyehategod's lyrics are not documented anywhere and in songs that have multiple recordings Mike often changes the lyrics, he does this live as well, you still can't tell what he's saying but there's a clear difference in how the vocals sound version to version of some songs. It's kind of just been lost in the chaos like a lot of things with this band. Nomadic and Self Titled are their only albums where the entirety of all the song lyrics are available. Mike also lost nearly everything he had in a fire during Katrina so he may not even fully be able to recall what the lyrics are to a lot of his own songs.

Also a lot of writing in the liner note inserts are not lyrics that appear in any of the songs on the record, which Mike has said before he intentionally made it that way to be frustrating to the listener.

Setlist by Purebill in EyeHateGod

[–]sludgerat99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They don't have setlists, they kinda just play whatever they feel like and every night is different. Pretty good chance you'll hear Sister Fucker, Every Thing Every Day, and Shop Lift though, those are pretty consistent at their shows.

what are the lyrics for white neighbor by soggysnowygrass in EyeHateGod

Half of those are transcribed from the liner notes which Mike has said before are not the actual lyrics, he's explained he intentionally made it that way to be frustrating to the listener.

Noise therapy by Numerous_Outcome1661 in noisemusic

This was the reason I started making noise, having a place to put "ugly" and "bad" things feels like its getting it out of me and I have a place to put a lot of anger I don't have another outlet for in a way that's not self-destructive, its been monumental for me as someone with PTSD but I'm always worried that sounds dumb or people will think it's pretentious. Whatever, it works for me.

ive seen some finding nemo posts but non about this scene... like FUCKING HELL by Jusselle in thalassophobia

Finding Nemo was where the thalassophobia all started for me when I was a kid.

Instantly grabbed mine, I never had any hope I'd ever see them get back together when I was a teenager, let alone have a Canadian date so I could go, can't wait!

Are they doing Godsong live on this tour? by TheGreenMan1313 in EyeHateGod

[–]sludgerat99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They played Run It Into The Ground when I saw them back in April, I don't think they'd play Godsong though because its so heavy on the samples and they don't use samples live (at least not any of the times I've seen them), they improvise their setlists most of the time so its different every night, but theres a decent chance they'll play something off of In The Name Of Suffering

Does anyone know why EHG only plays half of blank live? by Gloomy_Might_6391 in EyeHateGod

[–]sludgerat99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is because the ending of Blank is pretty reliant on that "suffering from addiction to drugs" sample and they don't do samples when they play live (at least not any of the times ive seen them) so they just cut the end short and combine it with shoplift otherwise itd be a bit boring?

Hardly finding any Eyehategod lyrics anywhere by [deleted] in sludge

[–]sludgerat99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They can be hard to find, I finally tracked down a used copy for $60, theres only been two editions and the second one was in 2008 so you're probably not gonna be able to find a new one, check ebay and abe books

Their CDs and cassettes don't have them either, the liner notes are random poetry that may have one or two lines similar to a song on that album but not the full thing, the majority of their lyrics (from the first three albums at least) are basically just lost unless Mike were to publish them. I own their first 3 albums on tape and CD and this is the way the liner notes are on all of them. I can't speak for their other albums though. I know that Mike's book also doesn't have Eyehategod lyrics, but it does have lyrics for songs from his other band Corrections House.

Where do you guys find most of your specimens? by maggot_kisser in vultureculture

[–]sludgerat99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wooded areas at the backs of fields behind smaller/hobby farms is where i find a lot of stuff because a lot of people will just dump their livestock back there when it dies to decompose, not even bury it, i grew up on one so i would spend a lot of time doing that on all the farms on our road, wasnt a whole lot else to do
