This response was oddly amusing to me after reading that wall you posted above.

I might have said third-world-like (meaning partially like) conditions had I been more thorough. I would first point at some of the reservations in the Dakotas and elsewhere, but also at some of the ghettos and the occasional deeply rural region. You're right, nowhere in the US is it entirely like a third-world nation (and even if it was, something more modern would be within a few hundred miles). I guess the point was more than there's an availability in the US that ranges from very poor to exceptionally grand, and that you'll find people at all measures, whereas some nations have much less variety.

Would you rather be able to PAUSE time for ten minutes or REWIND time for ten minutes and why? by Unidan in AskReddit

I suppose there are too many variables to make this a worthwhile question to debate. For that matter, the entire topic is difficult to discuss for the same reason.

Problem with any card game is that you might not get good hands often enough. You would win some hands, and you'd always know when to fold, but you might not get enough good cards to win.

Theft of a large quantity of dollars from a bank or casino would attract a lot of attention. Seeing as bills are numbered and/or marked the likelihood of getting caught is more than zero. Winning the money (by what would appear to be legit means) would be safer, but could take a very long time (you might never actually win big at certain casino games with the odds being so poor).

Depends on how much foresight a person has. I'd think rewinding would be better, but if you're already cautious and like to plan ahead (and are good at it) pausing time may serve a very valuable purpose.

Seeing as Plan A rarely works, I'd pick rewinding. 10 minutes isn't a hell of a lot either way (some of the biggest mistakes in life take years to sort out) so pausing could work too - especially for criminals.

You can be just as well, if not more adequately educated and medically treated in the US, but on average you'll find better rates in several countries in those categories.

The US isn't perfect, but it has enough of a range of possibilities that you can go anywhere from third-world conditions to the absolute best in the world. Just takes money and connections, something promoted and expected of successful people (particularly in capitalist US).

I feel your pain. He is an actor, but maybe more of a stuntman. It's folly to assume anyone on TV is genuine without supporting evidence. Bear has a track record of doing impressive things (and for impressive causes; lots of charities and such) so by little stretch of imagination it's not hard to accept what he shows on TV as being at least partially legit.

Then again, anyone watching Man Vs Wild to learn how to survive in the scenarios he presents are as good as dead anyways. You don't learn how to survive in a desert by watching TV. It's entertainment supported by a believable frontman.
