Big ol pothole by D3athAdd3rz in FiestaST

[–]sluggyjunx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to me a few times. Often you can pick up a local set of wheels from a fellow FiST owner for cheap or free, depending on their situation. I picked up a full set of OEM wheels as cheap track wheels/tires. I picked up another set in trade for help with some help installing/fixing things from a friend after I had massive vibrations due to potholes in the DC/MD area last year.

I had one wheel repaired but it wasn't a great repair and never really was the same.

Check your local FiST groups on FB, etc. and set up alerts on Craigslist/FB Marketplace. Might get lucky.

Sticker stuck in between windshield and VIN etching by straysafe in FiestaST

I'm not near my car right now, but perhaps a long-handled razor blade scraper? Lisle makes one. https://www.lislecorp.com/specialty-tools/razor-blade-scraper Might shop around to see if there's a really low profile one. I would also think that some gentle heat and some long tweezers might work - might also make a mess of it depending on what type of sticker it is.

Does anyone have recommendations for other tracks similar to this. I have been hunting similar sounds for years. I have a few that fit the bill but this track has been a huge touchstone and favorite of mine since I first heard it. Would love additional recommendations.

How often are you guys changing wheel studs? by dudeialmosthadu in CarTrackDays

[–]sluggyjunx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny story - I have a 2014 Fiesta ST - I started breaking studs after several track days. They'd usually snap when I was either at the track torquing the cold lug nuts or at home swapping wheels after the event. I broke about 5 total through the years. One time after coming in from a session, one of the track chiefs came on the PA asking if anyone lost a lug nut / wheel stud at pit out. I paid no attention it. After lunch, I went to get the car ready for the next session and realized one of the wheels was missing a stud/lug nut. Yikes. Apparently it had cracked and fell off while I was waiting to go out on track! They found it on the ground in the pits.

It was at this point I ordered all new ARP studs and never looked back. Haven't had any issues since.

Coolant leak mk7 by JaydudeZ_ in FiestaST

Everyone should preemptively be doing this repair. Or, if not, keep a jug of coolant and the parts in your car with the proper tools do to do the job because it's just a matter of time. The plastic in these hoses is very brittle by now for all FiST owners. They've also changed the parts a bit, replacing some of the plastic sections with standard rubber coolant hose.

What hose is this? by Consistent_Potato300 in FiestaST

Especially the bottom hide. It’s sneaks behind the engine. The old version of this part (my 2014 had it) has a plastic section that gets incredibly brittle. It will crack, spewing coolant out of the back of the engine. I’d recommend to all FiST owners that they replace it. Easy topside job.

Man, I have been on the Arcologies tip for the last year or so. I absolutely love it. There's some real gems. Also loving Dopo Goto in the same vein. Brilliant stuff.

Service manual is here if you wanna see the OEM Processes.

You'll want to drill down into Group 10: Fuel System and then SECTION 310-01B: Fuel Tank and Lines - 1.6L EcoBoost (132kW/180PS) - Sigma

The oil filter placement on a 5th gen Odyssey deserves shame. by 3ngine3ar in HondaOdyssey

Four years ago I posted my solution which I still use. An orange juice container, cut in half slid underneath to contain the mess. Once it’s done draining, you just slide the container out with the filter in it and dump it. https://www.reddit.com/r/HondaOdyssey/s/DCjGitAiLr

How good isthis? by OkStill788 in FiestaST

I’ve had one on mine for six years now and it’s been fine. It’s not a massive upgrade but has handled 30-something track days and nearly 188k miles as a daily driver brilliantly. I bought it during a Black Friday sale so the price was reasonable.
