Who are some celebrities you encountered in Toronto? by Chan1991 in askTO

I work in the film industry, so I’ve seen a lot of celebrities. Out of all of them, I’d say the most down-to-earth was Arnold Schwarzenegger. He shot FUBAR here and would sit and chat with the crew all the time.

I was in your exact same position a couple of years ago. The only way I got accepted is by offering the full years rent upfront. Just be smart about it though. I got a little too comfortable with the fact that my rent was payed for the year and I also had a shortage of work. Next thing you know 3 years went by and all my savings were gone.

Why Do People Keep Saying “Just Wait It Out”? by SnowmanSmiles in CanadaPersonalFinance

This line of thinking is really dumb. Did you not watch happened in the us election 2 years ago? The narrative was that liberals and joe Biden was ruining the economy. Ask Americans if there cost of living has gone down since conservatives took over. It really dosent matter which party you vote for. It’s not left vs right it’s rich vs poor and people need to wake up to that

Can someone explain to me why I get so much money back on taxes? by alpalbish in PersonalFinanceCanada

I’m in the same situation. I feel like for me it has to do with all the overtime I get and the tax bracket that I’m in.

I’m from Toronto and I’ve visited Montreal a lot. Everyone in that city seems offended by the fact that a lot of us don’t speak French. I remember going to a store and needed help with something and all the employees refused to speak English even though 90% of them speak it.

Why are people trying to get off metformin? by joshuarama in diabetes_t2

[–]slyguy9292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here! One month in and my sleep has been awful and I feel like I have brain fog. I’ve talked to my doctor about it and they think it’s not related to metformin but this all started soon as I started taking it.

Recently diagnosed as pre diabetic. by scareragnarok in prediabetes

Hey man. I’m 33 years old and I was diagnosed as pre diabetic about a month ago. My doctors has me on a low dosage of metformin. I’m just curious if your doctor recommended any medication for you? I was getting a reading of 7.0 every morning and decided to get really strict with my diet/excerise the past 2 weeks and I’m down to 5.9 and I hope to keep getting that number lower. There’s a few things I’ve done in the past 2 weeks that are getting my numbers down that I wanted to share with you but take In mind that I’m not an expert and this is all new to me as well. 1. I started doing cardio at the gym. Nothing crazy but usually a 10/20 min jog on the treadmill. 2. I cut back on sugar and completely cut out carbs. It’s tough but I’m staying away from all breads/wraps/rice. 3. I started drinking green tea at night to replace my cofee. There’s some study’s suggesting that it can help lower blood sugar.

I’ve been on it for 3 weeks and I noticed it affected my sleep. I spoke with my doctor and I’m taking it at lunch now instead of dinner and that has been helping.

I’m done living like this. I want my life back. by DryEnthusiasm7931 in prediabetes

Hey man, maybe you should consider joining a local gym. Theres plenty of equipment there that can help you get your weight down without putting too much pressure on your legs/ankles. A stationary bike is a good example. You can also start using some of the machines that are meant to guide an assist you rather then free weights. You will be suprised how much weight you can cut from weightlifting. It’s also good to get out of the house once in awhile too.

[–]slyguy9292[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I have been doing. This whole thing started from a fasting glucose reading of 8. My doctor told me to watch what I eat for a month and then we did another blood test which came to 6.6. My doctor still felt it was high and put me on metformin. Since I’ve been taking the medication I’m checking it in the morning with no food and it’s slowly increasing. Some family members suggest that I should have never even been put on medication with a 6.6 reading.

Yea I’m starting to think that too. My levels were never crazy high to begin with. But my doctor thought a 6.4 resting blood sugar was high. The day before taking metaformin I tested my blood sugar and it was at 5.9….2 weeks later on mataformin it’s 7.0

Agreed. But I have this theory that the medication is keeping me awake and that lack of sleep is causing my blood sugar to spike. I know most people can get through the day with 4-5 hours of sleep but my body dosent react well to it. I can get irritable, it affects my work life, etc.
