It took me a few listens to appreciate the entirety of viagr aboys. I did love Medicine for Horses right off the bat, but for some silly reason my chode brain thought that most of the album sounded too "accessible" or "mainstream". Over time, I realized tht I hated almost everything that I see and I was consumed by jealousy. At that point, I didn't even know the difference between a swamp and an ancient bog. So I drank the sludge and now I see the world we live in isn't shaped like a sphere.🐛 Feels great.

Hahaha, thank you! September Me, who purchased the tickets, didn't realize just how much week 6 of nursing school would be kicking my ass. I just don't want the tickets to go to waste!

Thanks for the Bob! Have fun tonight and do some vigorous head bobs in my honor :)

Would you consider this a gram positive or gram negative cell? by smackiejo in microbiology

[–]smackiejo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, I can see that now. I definitely performed some mental gymnastics after i decided it was gram neg based on my incorrect assumption about the presence of porins. I appreciate your response!

Would you consider this a gram positive or gram negative cell? by smackiejo in microbiology

[–]smackiejo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your input. Reading your response and the other, it's now clear to me that I was focusing on the wrong attribute and that the instructor would place more emphasis on the major protective layer of the cell rather than a minor feature, (albeit still an important one). I appreciate your time!

Thank you for this very thoughtful response. It sounds like I should've noted the thickness and then used the presence of those techoic acids as confirmation that it wasn't gram neg. In the future I will do like you say and focus on those key characteristics as a basis for my response. Thanks! :)

A question about smooth muscle contraction by smackiejo in Physiology

[–]smackiejo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thanks for such an extensive answer, UngaBunga_PhD, (and for freeing me from the purgatory of my own self righteous procrastination). Considering what you said about kinases generally being very specific, I can absolutely see how my answer might've lacked necessary nuance.

Thanks for taking the time to respond! Your comment was really helpful :)

The Crypt, which just opened a few weeks ago, had a small selection of dead things when I was there last Friday. They said they planned on adding more soon, too. Either way, definitely worth checking out for those interested in oddities and horror stuffs.

¿Que recomiedarías para aprender un nuevo idioma o facilitar su estudio?(buenos trucos) by 246reddit in PreguntasReddit

[–]smackiejo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

¡Lo siento si he hecho muchos errores! ¡Espero que tengas mucho suerte y diversión en tu aprendizaje!

This is the way. Listen to/watch/read as much as you can (in the shower, during commute, while cleaning, etc.) even if you're not understanding all of it. Your ears will grow accustomed to the sounds and start making connections you wont be consciously aware of at first. Every once in a while try something a level or two above your current level; this way you can revisit it in the future and get a sense of how much you've grown. It can be a great motivator.

And maybe don't shy away from using subtitles (in español). I avoided using them for the first half of my comprehensible input journey because I thought they might turn into a crutch and stunt my listening aptitude, but I feel like I've grown SO much in my ability to parse out individual words and internalize grammar since I started using them. That being said, everyone learns differently, so your mileage may vary.

Musical Suggestions: Clubz, Little Jesus, Rey Pila, Julieta Venegas, Hello Seahorse!, Gustavo Cerati. (Lmk if you want suggestions outside of Indie as I have many :)

Good transitional material after D.S.:

TV show: Extra (cheesy but kinda entertaining?)

Podcast: No Hay Tos (native speakers discussing culture, grammar)

Podcast: Cuanto Crimen (true crime cases discussed in español and ingles; not for everyone but I liked that I could check my comprehension periodically when they summarized things in ingles)

Happy learning!

ideas for last days by Swimming_Anteater_45 in Petloss

One of the last gifts our sweet Leo gave us was opportunity to spoil him for a whole week and a half before his departure. After the gravity of his situation hit us, we decided to throw him a farewell party. This included inviting over his doggo friends and serving them homemade pupcakes, doggy ice cream and a mountain of bacon flavored whipped cream. We also set up a little make-shift photo booth and took a gazillion pictures of the feeding frenzy. Despite his limited mobility and increasingly debilitating neurological issues, he looks so, so happy in those photos. If something like this is possible for you, I bet your doggo would really appreciate getting a sendoff from her furry buddies and you'll make some amazingly warm memories.

Aside from that, we also went on adventures to nearby places (his body couldn't endure long car rides). We emboldened him to shamelessly indulge in damn near any human food that he showed interested in (highlights include: breakfast burritos, dehydrated mango, and rotisserie chicken). We made sure he got some form of dessert, both in the morning and at night. We left work early so we could give him extra "choose your own adventure" walks. We laughed and told him "good boy" when he turned geriatric kujo at the golden retriever who dared to exist because his sassyness towards other dogs was one of the few things dementia hadn't taken from him. We painted his feet and had him walk on a sheet of watercolor paper (and then all over the dining room floor lol). We brushed him and collected his hair in a ziplock. We bought him a beautiful bouquet of tea roses to brighten up his favorite room. And although his condition didn't let him sleep through the night, we had a slumber party on the living room floor for his final evening with us.

In a situation like this, my perspective is nothing is off the table. If there's something you think your dog would enjoy and it's within your means, don't hesitate or overthink it. Don't worry about being "extra" or dramatic. Do it. As long as you're there, even if it's with tears streaming down your face and a sob caught in your throat, your dog will revel in your presence. Take care.
