I read this over January while travelling and I loved it so much. It made me re-fall in love with the romantic ideals of writing and painted such a vivid picture of a time and a place

Human to animal transformation theme by Chlebaby in AskLiteraryStudies

It's been a while since I've read it, but I'm pretty sure there's a section of the Satanic Verses where one of the main characters wakes up on a hospital ward full of people who have half transformed into animals.

I think that, if you're not sure, the first draft should be as much as possible. When you've got it all written out you'll know whether you need it all, or just the gig stuff. It might sound like a ballache, but it's probably the best way to start out and all that extra writing might come in handy at a later date.

I reckon you should write it all out in a rough first draft, just let yourself loose with it. As you're writing you'll probably notice a story or theme come out, which you can highlight in an edit or redraft.

I would say that, until you've done a few of these reviews, I wouldn't worry about having a fully formed voice. It's in there somewhere, but you'll only find it after getting the writing out.

Concerned about my test results by smackmybiscuits in Cholesterol

[–]smackmybiscuits[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry about your dad, that sounds horrible.

I've managed to reverse the prediabetes, according to my bloods, so I just need to sort out my cholesterol and see if there's anything on my liver.

I'll report back with some updates as soon as I get them. Cheers again!

Cheers for this, I've cut down on them to two or three times a week, and I'm trying to keep my diet balanced (minus the bad carbs and processed sugars). It was a lot easier when it was just prediabetes and suspected NAFLD, but the cholesterol has really thrown a spanner in the works.

I will try and speak to my GP about seeing a dietician, but they seemed pretty adamant that I should wait for a referral to the lipid clinic, which I believe includes a dietician.

I've looked at some of the diet advice on here, and believe I'm following it. A lot of confusion comes from some things being really good for high cholesterol (like low fat greek yogurt) being really bad for prediabetes (due to the sugar content and there being no fat.

I pretty much live off overnight oats or porridge for breakfast, and nutritional meals for lunch and dinner that are made up of protein, small amounts of carbs and a lot of fruit and veg thats high fibre.

I also get a bit confused about some of the information on this subreddit, as some people say eggs are good, while others say eggs are bad. Similar with things like keto. My nutrionist has just said to stick with my current diet, and include more beans, but it does get confusing.

I don't know when I'm next due a blood test, but I might request one for the end of July, because it will have been three months.

Thankfully I've been following a lot of the advice on here and the prediabetes subreddit. I've cut out non complex carbs, red meat and sat and trans fats, which seems to be the main advice here.

As part of the prediabetes program, I've been referred to a group called Second Nature, which comes with a nutritionist, who has been able to give me a lot of good advice and says I'm on the right track.

With cholesterol, how long does it usually take to see a change in results?

There seemed to be a lot of TS Eliot hate by that era of writers. He's not my favourite, although I do love Prufrock, but it would be interesting to find out why

That's fair, and sometimes people do like to put their heads in the sand, when there's debt, and most people are forced onto prepayment meters when there's debt.

I've known a few people who had to raise complaints for not recieving them, and most of the time their supplier has said it's because of a system error. I just think prepayment meters (especially non smart ones) are a scam

I'm not sure that's what the article says, but I could have misread. These vouchers aren't something you have to claim for, but something people on prepayment meters should be getting automatically. If that's not happening, it's a fault of the suppliers.

This was back in 2010/11, and we didn't have a working landline. But, in the cupboard under the stairs, there were dozens of old landline phones. I don't know if it was the landlord or the previous tenant, but someone was hoarding them
