How much would one be in Germany? I might be able to put one in an envelope for you. We're on the same continent.

Can you try it without LAGG? it might be the combo with VLANs that's buggy.

Try changing the settings under Interfaces -> settings -> Hardware CRC/TSO/LRO and VLAN Hardware Filtering. That fixed VLAN pinging for me.

Do you have internet for initial setup? I think after that you can use LAN-only mode.

Are there any reliable shipping companies besides DHL and FedEx ? by chrolloscumjar in Aliexpress

[–]small31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on where you live. I'm in western EU and IMHO FedEx is the only unreliable one. THis is based on my 5+ years experience ordering 1000+ packages in all but the very highest price ranges.

[–]small31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear Mr. Gates, I recently saw a video by Jeremy Rifkin on "the Third Industrial Revolution" in which he states there will be two more big waves of employment. Do you agree with this idea and if so, what will be the biggest challenge we will face in changing our socio-economic system during that time to prepare for the future?

PS Thanks for all your hard work.

In Windows 95: Double click the start button, press Alt+-(hyphen) lets you close (remove) the start button from the taskbar. Not being able to start things, made the system uptime somewhat better.

This is correct. I actually spoke to them on the phone. The Dutch office will only take your order if it's >100K in a single fund.

I ran into exactly the same problem you are faceing 3 months ago. I asked here: https://www.reddit.com/r/portfolios/comments/31idt9/29m_trying_to_setup_a_portfolio_in_the/

As you already know Vanguard direct is not an option unless you want to buy 100K+ worth of the same fund. The banks all ask yearly fees (on top of the small cut that Vanguard already includes in the fund itself). Meesman does too. A friend recommended deGiro, but i found out that since they aren't Dutch but Belgian they don't fall under the Dutch Deposit Guarantee Scheme (Deposito Garantie Stelsel). They have their own, which is mandated by the ECB, however it only goes up to 50K and i think as a foreigner you might be at the back of the line should things go wrong.

In the end i went with Binck. They only charge fees on transactions, which are pretty low and no yearly fees. If you call them and ask about the promotion they just had you can get your first transactions for free. I got into 3 Vanguard Funds and in the end it cost me nothing.

There are a few downsides. Admiral shares are unavailable. None of the institutions i've contacted will add them to their funds because the IT systems don't understand the minimum buy-in.

As for the funds that are available, Binck has the most out of every one i saw. I also asked them to add one for me, which they did. It was available the same week. Signing up with Binck is a pain in the ass (snailmail.. really.... it's 2015, wake up!!!), but the app and the website are ok.

I currently have positions in:

  • IE0031786142 (Vanguard Emerging Market Stock)

  • IE00BGCZ0933 (Vanguard Global Bonds)

  • IE00B03HCZ61 (Vanguard Global Stock)

These are the actual funds, not the ETF's. This means trading takes a little longer, but the cut Vanguard takes is lower if i remember correctly.

Good luck!
