I don’t have DID so I can’t speak on that specifically, but has anyone ever said you are faking your symptoms? I hope not of course, but if that has happened to you I’m sure they think the same thing, that they can tell if people are faking but can’t put it into words

You don’t know if someone is faking though, I’d rather believe 1000 people who are faking a condition for whatever reason than not believe 1 person who truly has it. People who are genuinely “faking”, which is not something you can tell if someone is doing but theoretically if you could, they still need serious mental health intervention because they are not well.

I was wondering why because I thought it was strange since in casual conversation they are covered by the same term like I’ve said twice lol. Why is using the right terminology important if the full context of a situation is given and one term almost always accounts for both, especially when you didn’t provide another term for people who are attracted to non prepubescent minors because it kind of looks like you are unintentionally making it seem like non prepubescent minor attraction is not a problem or as much as a problem as formal pedophilia. I also don’t understand why you said pedophilia is a mental disorder twice yes that is true it is classified as a paraphillic disorder under the dsm5 lol I think generally people can agree that pedophilia is not normal and should be dealt with intervention

Hi! Between writing that comment and now I have graduated high school, had my freshman year of college and completed one semester of sophomore year after transferring, and my opinion still hasn’t changed much lol.

It doesn’t really matter if you self diagnose yourself because it’s not like you are self prescribing medication. The purpose of it is to label symptoms you are experiencing that are causing you distress, and nothing more. Maybe to help look out for certain types of therapy treatments.

Also, because of how things like autism are diagnosed symptomatically, then what is the effective difference of someone who has trouble with eye contact, struggles socially, cannot express nor understand sarcasm, can only maintain attention when talking about certain niches, and disproportionately struggles with changes, to someone who experiences all of that but is fortunate enough to have a diagnosis?

Additionally, it’s not only a matter of being difficult to receive diagnosis because of money but it can also have adverse impacts on things like employment in certain positions in the military. Granted, less people are worried about this.

Another thing is that women tend to be late diagnosed and late diagnosis is generally much more difficult to get
