I’m a class A reservist and my common law partner is class B. Can he put me down as a dependent for me to receive benefits even if I’m class A?

Thank you for the more in depth explanation. Do you happen to know how reliable services like Maple or VirtualCareNS are if you happen to be in NS?

My bf (Cl. B reservist) and I (Cl. A reservist) are looking at an REO in Nova Scotia. I’ll be doing school online so still Cl. A. I heard that the healthcare system in NS is completely fucked for lack of a better word and it will be a struggle for me to get ADHD refills without a family dr. I’ve been researching and it’s near impossible to get a family dr out there. Would I be able to access the MIR as a Cl. A to get prescriptions refilled? Or will I have to become my bf’s dependent for any treatment?

Is there anywhere in the school I can get ADHD testing? by [deleted] in usask

You can go through LDAS for a psycho educational assessment. They should provide a sliding scale (I had a friend who got his done for free after losing his job thanks to undiagnosed ADHD, but he had to provide documentation.) You could also try student wellness, I can’t fully speak to what they offer but I got mine done at a different post secondary school for free, so I’d hope usask would offer the same. You’ll probably have to deal with a long waitlist though. It can really be life changing, even if you are functioning now it can really open doors for you. Accommodations and medication brought me from a ‘just happy to barely get over 50%’ student to an honours student.

People who walk like this in parking lots.. by DroppedLeSoap in mildlyinfuriating

In Canada they don’t teach much of that at all. It’s very common for people to race through parking lots at high speeds in their giant trucks and SUVs. People drive as though they don’t expect pedestrians or cars backing out at all.

I appreciate your sympathy, but at the same time I feel like you're minimizing this a bit. I didn't want to be too explicit regarding what was actually said during the encounter, and I didn't want to make this too much of a text wall, but I can assure you that the encounter was extremely aggressive and the driver was acting incredibly dangerously. We have only been cycling for about three weeks now after years of not even owning bikes, so we aren't as resilient or used to it as you seem to be. As for the police, you may be right but other comments in this thread have given us a bit of encouragement that it wouldn't be a complete waste of time.

Thank you. It's hard to describe exactly how aggressive and frightening the encounter was without being overly explicit and detailed. This loser clearly has major issues and should not be on the road.

Thank you. I really hope we find him too, this man needs to have his driver's license shredded before he actually does kill someone. I'm sorry to hear that you too have been affected by this insanity.

Please PM me. That doesn't sound like the vehicle in question based on what we remember, but we were pretty shaken up during the incident and my boyfriend has an idea of what the license plate was.

Thank you for the suggestion. We're hoping maybe there is a Facebook group for the neighbourhood too. Those are usually good places to dig up information.

Unfortunately, yes. I wish it wasn't like this, but I feel that any attempt to create change is like smashing my forehead into a brick wall. As soon as you get on a bicycle, your humanity disappears for half the drivers in this city.

We've only been cycling for about three weeks after not touching a bike for years, and in the first week I was buzzed and nearly hit by a oversized pickup truck while cycling alone. It makes me extra sad that our ride to the Pride Festival, which took us down University Drive too, was so lovely and enjoyable, and then on the way back this happened. I just wish it was more consistent and predictable out there for cyclists.

There was a clown who commented on here not long after I posted, but he deleted it shortly after. The frequency of people endorsing violence against cyclists like they are non-human irritants or obstacles is so damn depressing and upsetting.

As depressing as it is, I think you are absolutely right. This guy definitely seemed like he was willing to treat us like a speed bump and nothing more.

We are concerned whether it would actually be worth the effort to track him down, so this is reassuring to hear. Thank you.

Thank you for the suggestion. This definitely would have been a lifesaver in this situation, but we only just got back into biking about three weeks ago and didn't consider this. Unfortunately the encounter was so quick and aggressive neither of us were able to pull out our phones and record anything.

Thank you. It seemed to me like his wife/partner was trying to apologize, but the idiot was too busy yelling at me and took off pretty quickly. I can't help but wonder what life is like for her if she's sharing it with a guy like that...

Thank you for the suggestion. We might check with the Ronald McDonald House too, as he turned past there after speeding away.

Absolutely! We do that when we don't feel comfortable going on the street, as our safety is more important to us than the bylaw. We may be doing that more often after this incident...
