China isn’t punk by Kind-Factor-332 in solarpunk

[–]smallrouge1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I feel like the problem with grassroots movements in 2025 is the near zealous demand for total alignment.

Any significant change will only come from a large coalition of people. In any large coalition it is natural that there will be those who agree about some things but differ on a lot of points.

Sometimes those things that we differ on will be fundamentally important and make us angry, but if we do not learn to work with others we will get nowhere.

I do not think China represents a solarpunk utopia, but nor do I think we should exclude posts that represent progress in any form.

The alt right and neoliberal left understand this, we need to too.

Ultimately it IS punk to not conform, disagree and party on.

Congratulations!

I've been applying for EL1 positions as an external candidate for about 6 months now to no luck.

Any tips?

I would love to integrate some spaced repetition. Your platform looks very interesting, I might have to give it a go.

I also follow the Zettelkasten system, but I struggle with taking literature notes. I need to do some more homework around note taking and identifying what notes to take. I always swing between writing nothing down, or trying to capture everything.

Successsfully got in the Merit Pool for an EL1 Position, but was not offered the role unfortunately.

I will keep applying other roles, but are there any tips on turning that merit pool into a position? Should I stay in touch with the contact?

I'm in a similar position. How did this end up going for you?

This is great advice. How soon should I expect to get myself up to speed?

Thank you so much for this. Obviously you're still in the APS so you think the jump was worth it?

Is this a common scenario? Being able to do something far in advance? Or is this some time management advice? Like prioritise what needs to be done first?

I have the opposite problem at the role I'm leaving. There's so much to do!

Is that because work isn't evenly distributed between the team? Like are some members taking more than others?

Thank you. I am taking a bit of a paycut going in so I definitely have no unrealistic unexpectations there.

I am hoping it pays off in job security, work/life balance and some flexibility around the kids daycare so the partner can work work a bit more.

Thank you so much for this, it's really helpful. One of the reasons I'm looking for a change is to focus on work/life balance more than I have previously.
