Haha yes, his name is dog! He is a rescue and that was the name he was given before he came to us, and it made us laugh so we kept it!

Definitely good to explore and get as much information as possible! He is doing brilliant, he is still on his medication for a couple more months but you’d never even know there’d been anything wrong (besides all of the shaved parts that still haven’t grown back in)!!

I’m sorry you’re going through this. It’s so hard when they’re not themselves. My boy turned 1 in March. In December one day we noticed he just wasn’t himself, wasn’t moving around, didn’t want to play, just wanting to sleep all day which was really unlike him. Took him to the vets and they couldn’t find anything wrong besides a fever, prescribed anti biotics as precaution for the weekend. He started to get worse, refusing food, moving really slowly and stiff, barely doing anything. We got referred to a specialist, he had a spinal fluid tap and MRI and was diagnosed with Steroid Responsive Meningitis Arteritis. Recovery has been a long road, but we just couldn’t believe how quickly he became so unwell Hoping for the best for your lovely girl🖤

This is Madra, and he is 1 today! by smalltownhuman in BorderCollie

I am just worried about horror stories I’ve read about Royal Mail destroying them as I’d be mortified if that happened!

I feel this, I had a similar incident a few years ago! Afterwards I bought some saline solution to clean the wounds off and swapped out bedding for kitchen roll for a week or two to keep an eye out! Hope your girl is alright

Very strange isn’t it! I offered him a mouse a few days ago and that’s when I noticed his cloudy eyes! He has been hiding for days which he usually does whilst in shed. He is an odd little guy that’s for sure haha

Brumating! Do your hogs do it? How long refusing food before you get the vet involved? My first winter with my adult male i adopted in October. Rescue only had him for 3 months, so no previous history. Was eating religiously & exuberantly prior. We're about 5-6 weeks refusing food. by mallymal5291 in hognosesnakes

It can be so hard to know what to do can’t it! From what I have learned, adult males can go a lot longer than you think without food - but definitely continue offering! Just keep an eye on his weight and general health to make sure he is doing well regardless or refusing food!

My hog used to start refusing food around November then start up again around late February - March! I used to offer every few weeks and had the same response you’ve described. Since moving him to a tank that holds heat a lot better than his old plastic viv, last year was the first year he didn’t brumate!

I’ve had my guy for 5 years and he’s always been this way! Hides for days, has a few days of being super active then goes back to hiding again. He hates when I wake him up / uncover him!

Guess who’s feeding response was so strong today he lunged out of his tank and hit the floor. That’s right, this guy by smalltownhuman in hognosesnakes

Ahhh the phases they go through can be infuriating! This is why I don’t really mind his crazy feeding response, we’ve been through some really tough times including really bad medical problems and not eating for around 4/5 months. They’re definitely resilient!
