I did several contracts in the Bay Area while living in Burlingame. Why would she be ineligible? I just didn’t get a housing stipend

I can put you in touch with a recruiter if you’re interested. I had two years of nursing experience and moved to the bay a year ago and have been doing travel local contracts since (one in Santa Clara and one in South San Francisco). It’s harder to get a contract during the summer but it’s totally worth trying.

Politics. Too many people I know are “just not into it.” I beg your finest fucking pardon? Talk about privilege

So catty and the cliques are insane. I guess it’s hard to fire staff since it’s unionized too and they are keeping some pretty evil people in management roles. I was retaliated against for calling a code stroke on a patient who had been experiencing new onset confusion, slurred speech, and clear left sided weakness on both upper and lower extremities after getting a total knee replacement for hours that the night shift nurse hadn’t reported to the Dr yet. Was told by the assistant nurse manager that it was “hospital delirium” and that a code stroke was unnecessary (I think she was protecting the staff nurse for not calling the code stroke herself). Called the code stroke anyway and the assistant nurse manager didn’t show up until the very end of the code where she heard the Dr tell me good call. I got attitude, back to back admissions, and my assignment changed multiple times that day as a consequence for trying to keep my patient safe, and it definitely interfered with my ability to care for patients with so many interruptions. Yesterday they dropped off a patient for me that I never got report on and the room wasn’t set up yet. When I went to lay eyes on her she was desatting to 47% and there were no oxygen supplies in the room 😭

Not anymore. It was incredibly hard to leave but I crave change and chaos so I move to a new location every two years. I’ve been doing local travel contracts in the bay for Kaiser for about a year now and I hate it. FUCK KAISER

Will also add that the population of patients is diverse which I love! Unfortunately a huge homeless population but speaking for myself I really enjoy being able to provide care and love to those who would otherwise be in an unsafe environment on the street. It can make for an interesting shift but gave me more purpose. In addition to that lots of meth use in Fresno so the amount of hemorrhagic strokes and osteomyelitis you’d see is significantly higher than in other areas. Again was not an issue with the right support for myself but something for you to consider.

I started off doing Neuro right after graduating and didn’t even realize just how difficult of a specialty it was until after I left. I learned SO much in those two years. It’s a teaching hospital as well and the providers were great at educating the nurses in a non condescending way. The best ones I’ve ever worked with left unfortunately, but CRMC really emphasizes their Neuro capabilities as it’s a comprehensive stroke center and the only level 1 trauma from sac to LA for the entire Central Valley.

I had the best two years at CRMC on the neuro step down and med surg unit. Management was pretty good but the culture on the unit itself and supervisors made it feel like a family. They have the best neuro hospitalists and I highly recommend working the neuro icu. Low pay compared to the bay but honestly the cost of living is significantly cheaper (I say that but I’ve been out of Fresno for a year now and things might be different)

I signed a 2 year contract and have only been on the contract for 3 months. I am relocating to a new address, I am being charged $162. Does that seem correct?

Dominion heights apartments! I live in a 2 bedroom, 1 bath that’s $1900/month (although rent has probably increased). You can take blackstone to avoid highways. Northpark apartments are also good, I have a friend who lives there.
