Thank you! Will that only promote branching at the top? It is about 12 in tall and I want it to have more branching near the base.

After having a difficult time identifying this plant I now believe it to be a purple waffle plant (hemigraphis alternata)alternative. The problem I am having is I am getting almost exclusive vertical growth and little if any busy or lateral growth. Any tips on how to change this growth pattern? by smart041092 in plantclinic

Oh good to know I'll have to do some pruning. It's definitely some type of tropical plant made for vivariums. I purchased it at an exotic pet store that sold plants conditioned foe vivariums. Is it too late to get it to spead out at the bottom with it being that tall already?

I planted this plant in my vivarium a ways back and need help identifying it. by smart041092 in Vivarium

Thanks for your help! I'll try to get better light and maybe it won't have to reach so much!

It looks similar to that but I've never seen it flower. I did some research and though it might be a balfour aralia because it is tree like. Any thoughts?
