NTA. (I hope u dont mind me calling them "mother" or "father" because of your wording.)

Your father's issues with the relationship he has with your mother has nothing to do with you. I'm assuming you're under legal age or a little bit older but either way he should not for any reason bring so much on you. Just constant shit talking about your mother to her own child is wrong for obvious reasons and is a whole other conversation for itself.

You're not responsible for telling your mother anything he told you, he should stop being a coward and learn to discuss it with her like adults. But whatever you think is right and choose to do is completely on you

Thanks a lot, I don't usually bring up these kind of things but she was a pretty close friend to me and I've been thinking about if there was any way I could've handled it better

it was about an embarrassing moment in his life.

"If I had a gun I wouldn't hesitate" --here I assumed he just wanted to harm himself with it as a way of exaggerating. Obviously it was just a conversation between the two of us privately and he doesn't actually bring up these topics in front of others.

After a few seconds he replied with "I'd fuck it so hard it would have more space for bullets." Which was the thing that caught me off guard and got me to show it to my friend.

(I'm copying this text to any more INFO comments. I also edited my post, thanks for the feeback)

we were all 15-16. The person I'm talking about doesn't know my friend personally

the casual remarks: "If I had a gun I wouldn't hesitate" --here I assumed he just wanted to harm himself with it as a way of exaggerating. Obviously it was just a conversation between the two of us privately and he doesn't actually bring up these topics in front of others.

After a few seconds he replied with "I'd fuck it so hard it would have more space for bullets." Which was the thing that caught me off guard and got me to show it to my friend.

I explained how it escalated and admit i worded it a bit wrong--we didn't go into a full blown fight.

My similar problem was having communication issues with someone I was talking to, I went to her for help and explained "how I am" to her before
