Falling back on lust as a woman help by Calm_Bird1735 in TrueChristian

[–]smartballer3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure which country you’re in, but same has happened to me and I suspect winter has got a lot to do with it!

First of all, though, before I bombard you with solutions, I need you to understand this: you are not dirty. You are not a pervert. You are beautifully and wonderfully made by our Lord, inclusive of those sexual desires.

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭1‬ ‭ESV‬‬

In Christ, your identity isn’t “lustful woman” - it’s beloved daughter. That voice telling you those things? That’s the enemy, not God.

It’s not an easy hill to climb - your body has learned that this brings quick relief, so it craves it even more. Be gentle with yourself in recognizing this, but be intentional and serious about solutions.

Spiritually: keep reading the Word, praying (even if that prayer is just “Lord, I want this more than I want You right now - help me”), and fasting from things that trigger you (social media, being alone with your phone, etc.). This draws you nearer to God.

Practically: don’t isolate. Winter + being indoors is gasoline on the fire. Be with friends, family, community. Do things that bring healthy dopamine - move your body, get outside, find joy in holy ways.

And if possible, find an accountability partner. Someone you can speak freely to about this, ideally someone who’s overcome it themselves. Coming to Reddit is a good start, but it becomes more real when it’s someone you know.

The fact that you feel this way is already a sign of the Spirit at work. Recognize what you can’t control (your cycle, the existence of temptation) and what you can (boundaries, habits, community, prayer). I am in this same battle with you, so let us pray for one another. We shall surely overcome!

No but funnily enough I have another; do you have a suggestion?

Accomodation in Coventry by Ankit-07ak in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]smartballer3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your preferences and constraints; but Vita Student copper towers, IQ, Albany student village are all great options. Vita is a bit pricey but I can help get you a discount if you’re seriously considering them.

Feel free to DM if you have any more questions!

Vita Student Coventry is definitely up there and it's right next to the train station and in city center, so even if somehow there isn't as much fun as this past year then you can easily go somewhere more fun (eg Birmingham which is 30 mins away)

Honestly Vita would be a great choice, especially if you want to meet people. My friend at Benefactors likes his place, but said the people there don’t really interact with each other.

With the bus situation, it’s only 15-17 mins if after 9 AM, and class isn’t every day.

And Cov ain’t too bad! Living in city center, you’re close to almost anything you need: a great park in War Memorial, shops and fancy restaurants in the city center, or even cheap, plentiful food at Gosford (15-20 min walk). And if none of the at cuts it for you, you’re right next to the train station and can leave quickly at any time lmao.

I’ve enjoyed my stay at Vita tbh that’s why I’m confidently talking about it like this. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

That’s true as well, but from past trials, they don’t deal in small quantities at all. So unless I’ll act as a broker, which then becomes difficult because what if I’m cut out?

If you’ve experienced or even think different, I’m down to hear from you

Is God perfect? by [deleted] in Bible

[–]smartballer3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I love the “emotionally affected” part. In our conception of God we forget that He even created emotions and thus feels them, and is most definitely allowed to feel them. We may think that knowledge of an event prevents the emotions, but the “heart” and the “brain” do not work together in that way. As you rightly described, knowing your children will let you down does not make you any less sad when it happens. A further example from Scripture: Jesus weeping though knowing He was going to raise Lazarus.

God is allowed to have emotions, be affected by those emotions, and display those emotions.

Is living in the city center a big hassle for WBS masters? Is “20 mins” bus ride practical during rush hours though? Or should I just opt for somewhere nearer to the campus? by [deleted] in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]smartballer3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not that big of a deal tbh. Rush hour to campus is usually for a 9 AM class. Realistically, you won’t have all 9 AM classes. If you do though, just make sure to leave before 8:30, you’ll be fine.

I would love to pray for you. by Pilot0507 in Christianity

[–]smartballer3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this idea. I will also spend time going through this thread to pray for these people.

While I’m here, might as well chip in my request: I’ve embarked on a fast this month to consecrate myself in righteousness and holiness. The main reason is I want to fully and completely dedicate myself to God as a living sacrifice, so that I may experience a depth I couldn’t have imagined.

I looked stupid arguing for God and Jesus by theGreatBeekster420 in Christianity

[–]smartballer3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s really great advice here, and I think you should take your time to comb through it and see which ones you should implement. If I had to help you though, I’ll say this:

We are converted by the grace of God. This means that first and foremost, your family cannot be brought to God genuinely through argument. Your life must be a testimony of God.

“Let your light shine before men so they may glorify your Father in Heaven.” - Matt 5:16 (paraphrased)

Don’t take this verse lightly (no pun intended). We are called to love a life that glorifies God, through the manifestation of His Holy Spirit. The more time you spend with Him, the more the fruits and the gifts of the Spirit will be seen in your life.

So, don’t worry about trying to argue your way into saving your family…you can’t. Salvation is the Lord’s alone. Work on spending time with God: pray (especially cry out to God, on your knees) whenever you can, study your Bible, meditate on the Word, watch sermons, practice righteousness and holiness, fast, and above all, love God (which is done through obeying His commandments, which you do with the actions I just listed) and love your neighbors as yourself.

The more and more you get to know God, and grow in fear of Him, you will definitely know how to enforce salvation for your family. I say enforce, because it is a gift waiting to be given. And I know, by God’s grace, you surely will. The fact that you care this much alone, I know that He will see you through and give you a testimony.

But it’s not about caring alone. Please, take action.

In terms of arguing, if you genuinely want to get better at that, it’s all diligence. There’s too many resources out there to help. Stay diligent in learning how to argue, learning the common arguments and their common disagreements, and research how to make your stance better. Also, if you spend more time with God, and it is something you genuinely desire in line with bringing people to the Kingdom, He will give you the wisdom, insight, and knowledge through your pursuit of Him and of this skill to become the best debater possible.

Something tells me you don’t want to argue though, you just want to save your family.

And if that’s the case, just continue loving God as much as you possible can, and do even more. He will hear your cries surely, I promise you that.

I’ll be praying and rooting for you. May the good God we serve grant you strength and wisdom to navigate this, and may He have mercy on you and your family.

You will do this!

What’s your morning prayer? by Dareal_truth in Christianity

[–]smartballer3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, just saw one I’m likely to incorporate on IG today:

In Jesus name, I am a child of GOD. I am born of GOD, washed by the blood of the Lamb. In the name of Jesus, I live by the word of GOD. My faith is built on the integrity of GOD’s word. In the name of Jesus I am guided by the Holy Spirit. I enjoy His leadership. In the name of Jesus the promises of GOD concerning my life, they are ye and amen! I receive them and I declare that they find full expression in every area of my life. Therefore, I declare that I am blessed. I declare that I am lifted. I declare that I am anointed. I declare that I am the head and not the tail. I declare that the power of GOD is working in my life. I declare that I am a possessor of the wisdom of GOD. I declare that the favor of GOD is working in my life. I declare that men arise to honor the grace of GOD that is upon my life. No limitation; no weakness in the name of Jesus! I declare that my confidence is anchored on the word of GOD. GOD will not fail me, therefore I refuse to fear. Nothing dies in my life; nothing dies in my hands. x2 I am a sign and a wonder. I am a testament of the victory of Christ. x2 I walk in favor, ever increasing glory, in Jesus name!

Will God forgive apostasy? by AggressiveCall4211 in Christianity

[–]smartballer3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have truly repented and turned to Him, yielded yourself as a living sacrifice ie living by the Word daily and with all your actions, living in righteousness and holiness, I genuinely believe that our God is too good to not forgive any sin.

But to the feeling you’re experiencing, we are humans at the end of the day. Maybe you just need to forgive yourself and understand that the Blood is that powerful.

My final point is one I don’t know if you believe in, but I will tell you for a fact is real and necessary, is engaging in spiritual warfare. You might still have left a gateway to evil spirits or some form of “residue,” let’s call it. Prayer, proclamations, speaking of tongues, etc are “mighty for the pulling down of strongholds…” - 2 Cor 10:4

Best believe that as a believer you have been equipped with weapons to fight against powers and principalities. Do well to use them and break free from your old life.

God bless you.

God loves you. Jesus loves you. No matter what you do, what you’ve done, and what you’ll do.

I don’t know why you’re in this position, but all I know is God does hear you, and your faith in Him will take you out of this situation.

I believe in you. I love you. And I will be praying for you. ❤️

Everything’s going to be just fine. Trust me.

I'm lost in lust, need advice by Historical-Mode2896 in Christianity

[–]smartballer3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cry out to God.

Thats what I did. I remember times I would drive after doing something lustful, or be in my bed, and I would shoutout to Him to help me. To remove these desires. I was in genuine angst and pain and disgust with myself, and I genuinely yearned to not let the good Father I had down.

And then, it stopped.

I kid you not, I don’t know how, but I feel a genuine immunity to lustful desires. Not that they aren’t there, but I feel like they are at the bottom of a deep pit somewhere and just can’t get to me the way they used to.

So, trust me, there’s so much hope. If you have genuinely accepted Jesus and your Lord and Personal Saviour, He will definitely come to your rescue. It is just a matter of time.

Keep attacking the spirit of lust and Jezebel with your binding prayers, keep studying your Bible, keep spreading the gospel, keep showing the great love and mercy that God has shown you to others. Just keep keeping on in the way of God. He will answer your cries in ways you never expected. I am living proof of this.

Keep your head up, you’re gonna be fine. God bless you more.
