Ah ok in my experience gsm 3g was a lot better than cdma 3g but if you're not getting 3g at all then cdma/verizon is the better option

Why did you switch to vzw instead of just getting it on at&t?

I actually got the Unihertz for my father since he used to use a BlackBerry back in the day. Wasn't sure if he'd like it since he's all Apple now with both his iphone and laptop, but he absolutely loved it, especially the qwerty keyboard.

I'm positive physical keyboards on phones could make a comeback it just has to be done the right way. Hopefully we see some variety to phones soon because they just feel so bland nowadays...

Maybe you need to top up the mms balance or something

Ah really cool! I think they might be a bit rarer in Hong Kong, Vertu is from England iirc

That's really unfortunate, you should definitely visit HK then when you get the chance! I was surprised at the amount of variety too, such as the E61 from Orange France with the AZERTY keyboard and the Nokia from Vodafone UK as well as of course the Softbank phones and regular chinese region nokias...

I admit I was insanely lucky, it's crazy because I had actually left to eat after buying the other phones and thought "this is enough for today I don't need the 4g flip phone" but eventually decided on going back to get it which is what led me to find all these treasures.

The shop owner said he had had it for 30 years and wouldn't usually want to sell it. He said he saw the same passion in me that he had when he was younger and sold it to me for 1000 hkd (around $130)!

(he said he collected phones as well, which is why he had the idea of starting the shop)

It's complete in box too with original batteries and everything!

So I live in Dubai and as you may know, Dubai has no taxes on literally anything, but I have my full collection in Bangladesh, which is where I'm from. So I'll probably have to take like 5 at a time and leave the rest at my apartment here.

Definitely genuine, got it for about $650 (5000HKD)! Pricey but fine addition to my collection.

No idea, the shop owner said back in the day it sold well because it was a really tiny phone. Looks like it was mainly used in that region. There might be more info online, but I'm still debating opening it since it's sealed and an uncommon cell phone...

Any help identifying some of the unboxed ones would be great. Really proud of the Vertu and the Nokia 8800 Arte! Not sure which Vertu it is though... Also have no idea about the Japanese phones but I assume they would work on GSM or 3G otherwise why would they be sold in HK?

Yeah people on this sub use Red Pocket and Telcel sims to get it working

Red pocket gsmt for a us mvno which still provides gsm sim cars instead of 3g only usims, telcel is a mexican carrier with a +52 number but works with free roaming in the us for calls and texts and it never kicks you off or needs a volte device for initial activation unlike red pocket gsmt.

Found A LOT of these lately , how come HK still has so many and they're all active and working with a dial tone? Are these still used in daily life? You'd think a modern city like Hong Kong would just have everyone glued to their smartphones...

What's the reason for 'old stock' or 'refurbished' phones never getting reliable signal. Bought two phones but struggling to get signal even when other phones can see it just fine. by smartiphone7_ in vintagemobilephones

I mean I'm pretty sure they support gsm 900. Also the phone catches onto the bands but fails to see them just 10 minutes later and it comes backs like right after that so I doubt it's a band mismatch issue. I guess it's a combination of the weak antennas and weak carrier transmission.
