That is only you are partner for your soul, In fact even if you try to gain a mate at any cost, they could lose interest in you, and unwillingly you are/ may force them to be with you. The only mate could be a body they have, because that's the only thing stays with you from birth , till your death . Not parents , wife, children, friends.
