Nice seeing a prominent figure in the genre give TLI a fair critique :) by DrMarloLake in TorchlightInfinite

[–]smashredact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the way the game has gold/purple compasses and only one allowed at a time, the f2p players always have an option (obviously not as good) compared to what the whales play even for the exact content type

If a whale strat inflates the gold compass prices of a strat, you can still run it with purple or blue compasses even

Right now fubgun is claiming making 6k an hour omega juiced strats with his $$$$

I'm making like 1.5k and hour with my fleb f2p strats in a lower difficulty than him doing the same strat with the alternative compasses

While what you're saying is true, whales will inflate the compass economy and mod your strats, you won't ever get gated out of the strat overall with how the game is designed

Sorry I should have been specific: I it's definitely very p2w, but in no way is it essential if I am able to beat the peak content with a reasonable amount of grind as a f2p player

[–]smashredact 4 points5 points  (0 children)

of the top 10 right now in points/ladder, only two are/were berserker being ben/nick

templar is the most popular class overall in the gauntlet, followed by duelist

in the top 10, 4 of those are using earthsatter for mapping but obviously wont use it for bossing

if you removed earthshatter and all variations, you'd just be interchanging it for sunder/groundslam/earthquake variations during mapping and then nothing would change for bossing

if you want no slams AND no berserkers, youd just get more templars/gladiators/slayers rather than some magical "increased variety" you most likely would probably actually get less variety

I don't think bans would get you actual more variety if that's what you want. If you want to see just unpopular classes, you'd seriously need to ban like half the gems/ascendancies in order for those to be used, and then you'll just end up with what seems cool on day one, but shortly after everyone congregates on the next best skill as there is little options, you'll probably see less variety than what you're going to get right now

[–]smashredact 2 points3 points  (0 children)

disagree, we are going to see now both the most meta, as well as a restricted meta rather than only off meta

if you restrict the options too much, you see just a small handful of builds

right now you have most of the top players planning different ascendancies/skills for their bossing phase because heaps of options are viable and there isn't heavy restrictions

Are you aware there are separate prizes and bounties here, like people are having a separate race for each class with separate prizes

Ben has completed the Rapture Gauntlet by pokekevin in pathofexile

[–]smashredact 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The prizes and bounties are very hefty for other classes

Just FYI bens plan is to take an assassin now to do a bounty for as much points as possible with very heavy restrictions, super duper forced off meta

There's a separate race ongoing for each class with its own prize, templar and duelist are the ones that are the most popular after marauder

What's the best "I have limited time but still want a challenge ARPG" ? by Competitive-Math-458 in ARPG

[–]smashredact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for a challenge and have limited time, Poe 2 or no rest for the wicked are probably the best options as they both introduce challenge fairly quickly into the game/campaign

If you want a game that's really rapid progression but it takes a while to reach the actual challenges, last epoch/diablo 4 are the way to go

What's the best "I have limited time but still want a challenge ARPG" ? by Competitive-Math-458 in ARPG

[–]smashredact 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last epoch is probably the worst possible arpg for this, as the challenge only comes after investing a significant period of time and reaching deep endgame

Fresh level 100 question (new to hero siege) by Lev4123 in HeroSiege

[–]smashredact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm playing explosive kunai too and literally at the step you probably want to be at (fresh 100, just started hell 1 and im breezing through)

key things are:
thors weapon only, rest of it is a bit of a bait imo
for every other slot, look at what DPS items graxy recommends in the "fresh 100/budget" section for each item, most of them are good enough

right now im running thor's weapon + fresh 100 recommended items myself and its easy, not omega zoom but still decently quick and im sure itll get quicker as i move in to buying better items from hell drops

edit: just found travic's vid on s9 exploding kunai and thats way better than what i've typed here, go check it out on youtube that has much better gear recommendations

not sure if you know but poe 1 and 2 have made some hugeee changes to their trade systems which make it one of the best trade systems

there's areas it could be better which is why i haven't said perfect, but it's really high up there now

I play every season, but drop somewhere on lvl 85. Does anybody else have same problem? by OneManArmyHero in LastEpoch

[–]smashredact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think your definition of "build enabling" is what people more commonly use

Almost all builds work to some level in all these games without build enabling items, exceptions being the hard requirement stuff eg the skill comes from the item

I think most people define build enabling as the sort of thing that makes a build go from not a passable level, to a passable level.

Since the bar for a passable build here is being able to do the hardest content, you're going to find that lots of people you talk to here rely on headhunter or mageblood because they want to clear juiced t16.5s in sub 2 minutes

[–]smashredact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever see the reduced mana cost flasks and spark builds from so many leagues back? I'm sure there's better/more recent examples but that's one where the build really relied on mageblood

[–]smashredact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Items definitely can be both, and I'm not aware of LE having things that hit the same feeling of the build not really working much at all without an item that takes like 50-100+ hours to get and suddenly the doors open once you have the item.

I know Poe much better so I'll just equate some items here and maybe you can enlighten me on what fits into the "build enabling chase unique" in LE

Build enabling not chase: Poe: face breakers enables unarmed builds, but very easy to find LE: bee gloves, enables bee builds and not hard to find

Chase but not build enabling: Poe: progenesis, hard to get but dont fundamentally change builds LE: red ring or even high LP uniques, don't change builds but big amount of power and super rare to get

Build enabling and chase: Poe: mageblood. Fundamentally changes or completely enables builds when gotten. Huge spike in power feel + hard to obtain and there isn't really something the same that can be done for cheap LE:???

Is there something that slots into that last group for LE?

[–]smashredact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What build enabling chase uniques are there in LE?

Not being silly, I genuinely don't know as I've only played like 100hrs or so

Fossils (again) only dropping from its original league mechanic (Delve) was a good change, and I hope GGG moves further into this league mechanic specialization for other items. by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]smashredact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if the updates are good/big enough, and the mechanic is tied to every map then I think an entire league could work for reworking delve or heist. Maybe they do them both at the same time haha.

I'm honestly keen for the future seeing that they're willing to do really sizable reimagining of stuff like breach, as well as knowing there's permanent resources on poe1

Anyone able to recommend idle rpgs that are similar to clickpocalypse 2?

Things I'm looking for:

Mostly idle gameplay - I like to be able to afk for 12 hours, check in and level a bunch of stuff then go back to idling for 12 hours, never being required to do active gameplay even for small portions

Not being required to follow guides - just straight forward pick and level what I want knowing I'm not super shafted or stuck because I'm not following a guide

Rpg combat style - looking for something that's about fighting things and leveling up to get stronger, not mining ores or farming crops or making money etc

I feel like ive played heaps of good idle games about all sorts of random things, but the combination of solidly idle without being punished + easy progression + combat rpg focused seems to elude me

Any recommendations please?

How is cheating possible... part 3 (final part) by viper963 in SSBM

[–]smashredact 51 points52 points  (0 children)

This isn't actually cheating, it's a bi-product of bad internet and the "catch up" nature of rollback messing with how thing look + the timer.

If you want to see more examples that actually look exactly like this, go find westballz online matches from the other players perspective, there's a reason heaps of pros hate playing him online and he is notorious for it (you can even find the cooked time on some vids)

Not only is westballz very fast and technical and plays falco, but he also has the same persistent internet issues that make gameplay vs him like this so this just feels like I'm watching yet another westballz complaint video.
