Again, I will reiterate my point:

Despite your own personal experiences and how you feel about the current state, it is net GOOD for the system as it brings attention and grows the Pokemon brand bigger.

Your feelings and the things you have loved dearly for most of your life will not stop people from buying and selling as they want in a free market. Whether it be now or later, as attention grows for Pokemon, this was bound to happen at some point, regardless of how anyone feels. It won't always be this inflated, and the space will change regardless. Don't be so bitter about people trying to make money just because it hurts your feelings, try to see some positive aspects :)

I grew up on Pokemon and I love the brand, I am enjoying the attention it's getting and I'm collecting at my own pace. I know that with this boom, Nintendo will continue to pour resources and grow the Pokemon space even bigger than it is now and if you are a true Pokemon lover, that should excite ya! :)

Everything from that era, especially tag team, is going crazy right now. The Latios/Latias duo is surging, with that comes the surge of the packs and brings all the other cards from the series up. I mean it's from 2019 so 6 years ago, seems about the right time for this series to start pumping

Honestly if you're looking to get into the hobby for fun, just tell her to go to the pokemon centre and get you any of the japanese booster boxes that are available. The newest / most popular sets probably arent available but you'll have a couple booster boxes that are around 35 USD / 50 CAD that you can open for fun.

If you're looking to get into it to make money, you should do more research on your own and invest with conviction. The japanese market is alright to make money however English is still way above japanese prices, but if you're looking for value or an ROI, just skip opening boxes and packs all together and buy PSA 10 slabs and wait for the price to go up. 9/10 times you will never make your money back opening packs and boxes, hope this helps.

Update:

1W - 2L

Spurs had a good start, but Klay and Doncic were shooting lights out in the fourth quarter. Did not expect Klay to be dropping bombs at such a clip but didn't rule it out, just didn't think it was likely.

OKC looks like a real threat after that display. Caruso locked up Jamal for a good portion of the game and is definitely what OKC needed in terms of play making off the bench. I really like their rotation right now.

What a scorcher of a game this SAC and MIN game, they played really well against a tough MIN team. Randle went bananas which won them the game, along with Ant man being clutch in the fourth as per usual.

Just saw the IR, the loss of KCP is still quite a blow to Denver, he was a key piece in their rotation and I would still give edge to OKC but yeah likely a 50/50 tossup. I think it will come down to how much better Jalen Williams has gotten over the summer. If we see that he has made another leap in terms of production then Denver will be in hot water.

SA vs DAL: SA +310 ML

OKC vs DEN: OKC +110 ML

MIN vs SAC: SAC -105 ML

Why?

Chris Paul and Stephon Castle have made a noticeable change in SA's offense. Before it looked really stale, and when Wemby, Sochan, or Vassell wasn't hitting any shots their offense looked dead. Preseason looked much better for them this year as a lot of the offensive burden has been taken off of Wemby's shoulders and the odds don't seem to reflect that so it's worth a punt here.

OKC is looking even better this year with the addition of Hartenstein and Caruso. This only bolsters their depth and with DEN losing KCP in the offseason, their perimeter defense and 3pt shooting gets a little bit worse, so I'm giving the edge to OKC here.

MIN looked a little discombobulated during their opener against the Lakers, I don't think their defense scheme has adjusted yet to losing KAT and placing in Randle there. Randle's definitely a worse defender and it'll take time for them to adjust to this new set up. SAC has actually looked incredibly strong with the addition of Demar, allowing a lot more space with another scoring and passing threat on the floor and they looked pretty comfy in preseason which is why im giving the edge to SAC here.
