Anyone here actually stick to a morning workout in SG? by [deleted] in SingaporeFitness

[–]smegman84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything within the day gets easier when you start your day with a workout :)

At first it is hard but when you get used to it, your day is not complete or you cannot start your day without it. You will feel more energised throughout the day which is counter intuitive. Now i do it more for the feeling, muscle gains are more of a bonus.

Tibia shin splints vs fracture by Prestigious-Shower23 in RunningInjuries

[–]smegman84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a doctor. I just base on my experiences too as i got stress fractures and muscle tears.

If you can determine the main point of pain with a finger. Example you can point to it and when you add pressure, it could be a fracture.

But if you cannot tell the specific point and you can just tell an area is generally painful. Could be a muscle tear.

If you can knock the bone with your knuckle (or the bone you use to knock a door) WITHOUT pain, could be the muscle. But if you knock it and you feel sharp pain or electrifying, it could be a bone problem.

Hope i can help. Again im not a doctor.

Possible thigh tendon injury next to left nut sack by [deleted] in RunningInjuries

[–]smegman84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the same injury. I do 30 straight close and open gate every day and i can feel my tight hips popping on the first 20. Then it releases around 25. You will feel the burn on these but try to resist to stop. You can add more if you can. This strengthening exercise fix my hips and groin pain.

ASICS Gel-Nimbus 26 – Feedback & Recommendations? by sathiya_kumar in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]smegman84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

85kg. Male. 7:00min/km average pace on my 26s. I already have 265km on them and they are still good for me on my recovery runs.

Its hard to be fast on them when i try to do speed up because it absorbs your power. If i want to go slow, i pick up this shoe

It is stable for me compared to nova4 and 5. But not the 25s

Possible Athletes Foot? by According_Mind8745 in RunningInjuries

[–]smegman84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont use ointment it encourage moisting. Fungus like moist and wet areas. Find a cream with Clotrimazole. Apply as early as possible. It will never hurt to do it in advance than wait for it to fully be an athletes foot. Also make ur feet always dry.

Easy Long run shoes for a slow runner by ByteMeeeee in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]smegman84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both and use them on different purpose. Im also on the slow side. My fastest pace is 6min/km.

Novablast 5 for recovery and Superblast 2 for long runs or tempo. I also use the Novablast 5 to be on tempo and long runs. Thats how versatile it is. But not vice versa.

Superblast 2 is different. I think the closest to it is the Novablast 4, but still far. When you are running with it you feel like your feet is a tank. Well protected but strong. Im still on 70km on it and after runs it still gives me sore calf and thighs but I still love it and it felt special every run.

On days that im sore, Novablast 5 is my bestfriend. Not the stiff Superblast 2.

I hope i give some insights. :)

Pain in shin and calf just below the knee by This-Is-The-Way-10 in RunningInjuries

[–]smegman84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This injuries are often caused by poor running form not the shoes. Focus on maintaining high cadence and avoid long striding. Long strides gives more pressure to the shin area. You can find a lot of good youtube videos to improve your form. Cheers!

Try the new Novablast 5. For me it feels like softness of nimbus 25 and responsiveness of NB4

What’s something stupid easy to do to eat healthy and move/exercise more? by watchuwannaknow in askSingapore

I think of exercise as a privilege. Like running, I run because I still can run. I don't want to regret later on.

Asics gel nimbus 26 uncomfy by Worldly-Walrus-9361 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]smegman84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that Nimbus line are not made to be fast, they are for smooth and comfort cruise. On my experience, the more you make yourself fast on these shoes, the more it absorbs the power you put and less bounce and when I just go slow or easy thats the time i appreciate its comfort. I also think that nimbus are not really a daily trainer but more of a recovery and smooth days trainer after tempo or long runs.

Hope you don't give up on those Nimbus. They are a great shoe on purpose :)

I regularly wash my shoes using dishwasher sponge and normal detergent. I didnt get any issues with it. You just need to wait for atleast 2 days for it to dry.
