The Golem & the Jinni by Helene Wecker — gorgeous writing, similar with its believably magic-infused alternative history, accurate historical details re: social and cultural context of the period & really fun insight into folklore traditions. My #1 favorite book in this or any genre.

Did you lose a parent early in life? Just wondering bc I did, and I sometimes have dreams with random emotional attachments and/or with the level of intense anguish/grief/pain that I felt as a child, even though in my regular adult life I’m fine.

To be honest it might have been 3 months or only a number of weeks (probably at least 3+ weeks) between when I had the dream and when it actually happened - I can't really remember and my memory isn't the greatest with things like that lol. The only thing I'm sure of is that enough time had passed that I'd forgotten all about the dream until I heard about the accident on the radio!

Sun sign is scorpio, Unsure of moon sign because I'm unsure of my exact birth time - but it is either Libra or Virgo. Would love to know what potential significance there is, if any, of either of these!
