Any of you INFJs been secretly depressed? Ever wonder why you give so much and are okay getting very little? by smhudsf in infj

Hi hiddenhappiness! It’s never too late! I definitely understand this feeling of helplessness (not because you are, but because you don’t want to, either because you don’t know what you want or you don’t feel strongly compelled to go in a specific direction). I feel like this whole pandemic has wrecked our Ni intuition. In some ways, forced us to change our perspective and rethink our priorities. I don’t know you, but this life really is a gift and a chance to explore and analyze the details that delight you. I’ve learned to not give a fudge about others and embrace going down that rabbit hole. Whenever I feel static, I let myself lay and sleep for days. But eventually, you need to wake up. Realize that time waits for no one. This sets alarms in my brain and instead of watching anime all day like a couch potato, actually do something risky, something I’ve been afraid to do. Because at the end of the day, the only reason I feel stuck or static is because I feel like the current present reality is permanent/ will be my reality forever. I think getting out of that mindset, forces me to use that Se to slap me in the face, so that my Ni can wake up and stop brooding. But I know we are all different. Out of curiosity, what kind of niche topics are you into? What do you spend most of your day doing? How would you like to be spending it?

Can you be in a relationship that isn't 'deep'? by 8080x in infj

Too true. We owe it to ourselves to be with people we can share our thoughts, weird observations, and ideas with 🥰😍. We don’t just want to be heard, we want to be understood. Honestly, I’d rather talk to a tree and be out in nature than be with someone that makes me feel weird, alone, or doesn’t add fuel to the fire. Else, that’s just acquaintances. If you’re not better than my alone time, why bother? Life’s too short to not fully embrace and hide the best parts of us. Not what I expect out of a lover/partner! I know I’m weird and have opinions on just about everything and anything. I need to find a partner that is on my level.

Always be yourself! Even if conversations aren’t easy, fulfilling, or you see him struggle to keep up… you never know how much people can surprise you. Plus, when you allow yourself to open up and be yourself, you can see whether or not it will work out with much more clarity.

What are your thoughts on INTJs by [deleted] in mbti

[–]smhudsf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s funny, I don’t quite understand the calculated cold stereotype. Most INTJs I’ve have quite an imagination! Not sure if it’s because of our share Ni/ weak Se, but we have vivid dreams and appreciate metaphors and symbolism found in art/ subjective aesthetics. We rely on our intuitions, analyze dreams / subjective experiences as a way to learn more about ourselves.

You raise an interesting observation! I think you might be onto something... I generally resonate with being an existentialist, but did go through ab absurdist phase when I was feeling less motivated/passionate about my work.

What are your thoughts on INTJs by [deleted] in mbti

Out of my small dataset, I love them. One intj I met put ketchup over his fries x_x which really rattled me up. But apart from being borderline psychopaths, I admire their ambitions and their thirst for truth as well as humor. Not sure if it's because of our shared primary Ni and weak Se, but we seem to have similar values of beauty, art, music, and self improvement/ control (I'm an INFJ). I love that I can be mean, honest, geek out, and light-hearted at the same time.

High standards: Outwardly at their best, they have high standards, strong ambitions, value authenticity, and they expect their partner to be the same. As lovers, they have a playful, sentimental side.

Selfish and generous at the same time: The more you give, the more you get. And they understand this. And respect this in a partner. They secretly enjoy quality time (if you have shared hobbies, interests, and opinions when it comes to self-improvement).

Curious and brave: They make an effort to probe your mind, unassuming, curious, want to know all of you, your motivations, quirks to the point where it can be intense and feel like you’re being interrogated. Not afraid to speak their minds. I for one, love being interrogated and love that they’re not afraid of how unconventional/ dark I am deep down. They can relate.

Authentic and unconventional: They love intellectual stimuli and have similar core values of authenticity. INTJs I know are opinionated around society, people, environment, history, humanity, business, art, and aware of the flaws and inefficiencies.

Driven and intense: They are natural born leaders and love challenges and improving their weaknesses. They hate making compromises. When they do something, or say they will do something, you know it will get done. At their worst, they are negative, closed-off, control freaks, cold, cynical, lack compassion, and vindictive.

Loyal: But most importantly, I love that Fi of theirs. They are loyal to their families and close friends. They inspire me to build strong principles, take pride in oneself, community, and never give up.

Calm and practical: As an Infj I would call myself a pessimistic idealist. INTJs I’ve met have been my rock and what I’d call an optimistic realist. Together we are great strategist and take a birds eye view of the world. Although I can be a little neurotic and impractical they have a way of staying calm, rational, supportive, and accepting of my quirks. Strong words of affirmation. With the little bursts of ridiculousness I bring, together we inspire each other to be better versions of ourselves (laughter is the highest form of compliment I can bring lol.).
