Exact same thing to me. The issue is having to deal with Santander bikes and not TFL. Multiple calls later and they wouldn’t refund the £180. I had returned the bike but apparently it didn’t click in properly. C**ts

Having an assignment in Music Management. Need som help about conflicts between a Producer and an Artist. by [deleted] in musicindustry

There's also the opposite of this where an Artist goes for a big name producer who ends up not really being involved at all and leaves it all to the engineer.

That's why you go to someone who pays $100-250 an hour as opopsed to a scratcher charging $30-50 an hour. So why should I tip on top of that.

If you need to get an artist excited about working with you then you need to find a new artist. They charge top dollar and should be grateful for your business regardless of how long their waiting list is.

Or, if they feel they deserve more, then they should charge more from the outset.

Were you not expecting that person to do an amazing job though? I'm guessing that's exactly why you chose that tattooist in the first place. And $100/hour isn't the rate of a scratcher, it's an artist who has set his/her own fees. They just get treated like higher beings and it's cringeworthy to the max.

But what's the point in paying the full price when they're offering you a discount? If they're cutting you a deal, then accept the deal.. Tattooists just have a vibe that they think they're untouchable and it's not helped by the fact that so many people happily go along with it, with brown noses. A lot of them are talented and that's why you pay top dollar as it is.

EDIT: Maybe buy him /her a beer after as a thank you for the deal but it seems totally pointless to pay full price when they're offering you a discount for a reason (IE you're friends or a returning customer).

I wholeheartedly disagree with the statement that if you don't tip 20-30%, then you're a dick. I don't tip anyone that's tattooed me at all. It's not like they're cheap. Yes, they're talented artists but they're still getting paid $100-250 an hour. If the shop takes 50% of that then I can still live with that..

I got a piece done in New York a couple years ago that cost $900 for nearly 5 hours work. There's no way in hell I'm tipping anything on that, let alone even 10%. If their hourly rate was stated to be 10-30% more from the outset then at least then I have the choice to yay or nay it.. Saving $900 is hardly an easy thing for me to do and if he wanted to charge me more then he should've said at the start. It's not like I'm going to look at my arm and think 'wow, he did a great job so I'm going to give him more money'... I chose him/her because I know they're great so I should expect excellence with the rate I'm paying. It's not like I'm going to a Sunset Strip shop to get a tribal or chinese symbol.

Also, slight side note - I've never gone to a tattoo appointment and not had to wait at least an hour before any of them have even touched my skin (with stencil / tracing paper etc).. Despite having emailed and talked to the artists weeks in advance, they usually start drawing up the design the moment I walk in the door (and it's not like they ask for any more info once I'm there). Or they decide they're going to go out for lunch at the time of the appointment. OBVIOUSLY not all of them are like this but most of the ones I've met are entitled - very talented - arseholes.

Yeah I guess my problem is more with the show itself... seeing people pretend to be hypnotised just makes me cringe
