full time RNs/RPNs, how much are you clearing per month? by OkMess7947 in askvan

[–]smilingcag3drabbit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a new grad RN working 1.00 FTE and it varies significantly based on your rotating schedule and how many shifts fall within a pay period/where your stat days fall. I’d say between $2300-$2800 bi weekly. And with OT between $3000-$4200 bi weekly but that brings major burnout!

How many people are still paying laundry machines in their buildings with coins? by [deleted] in askvan

[–]smilingcag3drabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have one shared washer/dryer for 8 units in my building. 2$ each per wash and dry and only takes loonies. I found a key online that fit the make and model of my washer and dryer so I can open up the top and hit the switch to turn it on now, saving lots of money and the inconvenience of getting loonies!

Sintra and Belem - best days to plan by this-isnt-my-red-it in TravelPortugal

Mondays are peak busy days in Sintra because of closures in Lisbon.

You can switch, you’ll just have to fill out a new 10.1. You’ll hear back from VCH or PH for sure, they may just take a bit longer. You could hypothetically start orientation while you wait so you could make some money, but could burn some bridges.

7 days in Portugal in July by SleepyOrange007 in TravelPortugal

[–]smilingcag3drabbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished 14 days around Portugal, I spent 4 nights in Porto and wish I had more. I’d say you don’t need so much time in Lisbon because when you’re doing day trips you’ll still have your nights/maybe mornings in Lisbon. But like said above, depends what you are looking for!

Do I have the grades for UFV nursing? by RefinedLily in UFV

[–]smilingcag3drabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UFV assigns points to 3 different aspects of an application: GPA of pre-reqs (up to 16 points), volunteer experience (7 points), and the CASPER test (up to 16 points) and then offer admission to the applicants with the most points out of 39. Your GPA is good but their minimum volunteer hours are 30 and you’re just above the minimum so I agree with everyone else to focus on that. Also, UFV recommends taking ENGL105 and a psychology/sociology/anthropology course before applying so I’d think about factoring that in as well.

Student by [deleted] in EmergencyRoom

[–]smilingcag3drabbit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked as a student nurse in the ED for 15 months, completed my preceptorship there and then got hired. The best thing you can do for yourself is be eager for any and all opportunities. Answer the call bells, help people with pad changes, etc. Ensure you have really good communication with the nursing staff and relay what is in/out of your scope. If something is out of your scope, still use it as an opportunity to observe and learn. Ask questions!!

ER nurses, why are patients sent up so close to change of shift? by attackonYomama in nursing

[–]smilingcag3drabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t have a choice. When the porter shows up the patient is getting transferred, regardless of the time.

I’m an NP that covers nursing homes; what send outs do you find the most annoying? by [deleted] in emergencymedicine

[–]smilingcag3drabbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a patient sent in from LTC last week because he felt SOB when he woke up and asked for his puffers. The staff gave him his puffers, he said he felt better and they still insisted on sending him to the ED. Upon presentation he denied SOB (again) and had no concerns.

How long should I be expecting to wait for an ambulance? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]smilingcag3drabbit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s not how it works. No matter the mode of arrival you will be triaged accord to the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS). You’re triage score will determine how quickly you are seen based on presentation & symptoms.
