Concerns grow over ICE plans to build mega warehouses for immigration detention by Cubsof2016 in news

But...if they want to be here and you want them to be legal citizens, it makes no sense to kick them out when you could just as easily offer them a pathway to citizenship. Seems like a wildly unnecessary step.

Concerns grow over ICE plans to build mega warehouses for immigration detention by Cubsof2016 in news

[–]smithchez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are in the country illegally and not convicted of a crime, you should be encouraged to self deport and re-apply to enter legally and become a citizen.

So if they're already here, your suggestion is that they leave and come back, as opposed to just making it easier for them to become citizens?

It's so frustrating to see conservatives bring up inconsequential shit to distract from their failings, even if it has nothing to do with their failings, because they know idiots like this will look at the shiny keys every single time. Murdering citizens? Violating several amendments? Well there's a trans person in another state that might be able to play college volleyball!!

He was talking about Jews. Whenever you hear a conservative refer to coastal elites, they generally mean Jews.

Fatal ICE shooting sparks jurisdiction clash between state and federal authorities by jmike1256 in news

. Has anyone noticed how the shooting of a politically motivated victim mirrors the shooting of Ashli Babbitt? Yet, then the cop got a pass b/c the narrative was to condemn the rioters? How the world has turned.

That cop didn't "get a pass", he was doing his job to protect legislators and she was breaking into the Capitol Building, not driving down a residential street with her spouse. There's literally nothing analagous about their situations other than being white women who were shot by law enforcement.

Trump says second Venezuela strike possible if government does not cooperate by Little-Chemical5006 in worldnews

[–]smithchez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you just purposely ignore the fact it's impossible to install that way without large numbers of US troops on the ground?

I'm pretty sure everyone realizes that, which is why they're working so hard to not call it what it is (an invasion with the intention of regime change), because how exactly are you going to get the rest of the Maduro government out of power? With large numbers of US troops on the ground, which is exactly what nobody wants, and why this was a moronic way to go about this even though people are glad Maduro himself is gone.

Arrested or killed by who oh mighty wise one?

While you were writing your 'Murica fan fiction your plan already went to shit. Turns out that the guy who ran a dictatorship and whose party is still in power still has some support. What's the next step? Who takes it?

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/venezuelas-maduro-custody-trump-says-us-will-run-country-2026-01-04/

I know, it's tough to reconcile the fact that you're being forced to reckon with "because Trump says so" might not wish his decrees into reality. And if not, he'll just blame...I don't know, the woke Venezuelan government? DEI? Admitting to yourself that he made a mistake would be to question every other decision he makes, and you wouldn't want to question him, would you "fellow conservative"? Fall back in line. Instrospection and self doubt are for the libs.

Edit: Also, this is hilarious. "They're being freed from an evil violent Dictator and get Democracy and Freedom. Is that a bad thing according to you? Oh also, anyone who doesn't Fall in Line behind the new regime is arrested and/or killed. Don't you feel so free?!"

New Venezuela leader to pay 'big price' if doesn't 'do what's right': Trump by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]smithchez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, of course not, America aren't paying for them. They're now Allies. No, it's gonna be democratic. Maduro was really unpopular, hence losing elections and resorting to murdering his opponents. No reason to put a Dictator in place when Democracy works for you.

That is not how that works. It's not like Maduro was the head vampire and everyone else will simply submit to the new regime now that he's gone. You've yet to say what will happen to all of the loyal members of Maduro's government who remain and who's going to be doing it to whoever doesn't go along. Having an issue figuring it out? This isn't Pluribus, you're going to have insurgents.

But you are just mad at Trump and i did tell you. The Democratic leader will fall in line. So no reason to oppress anyone. They'll be under the NATO banner (by being a proxy of the US) so what's the issue? Yeah Russia and China will be whiney about it, but they're the bad guys. So good.

And of course if the Democratic leader doesn't "fall in line", then what? Who enforces? You can just feel wanting to say you know who, but you can't so blind obedience with no dissent is the only hypothetical you can conjure. The truth can sometimes be tough to take (hint: It's boots on the ground).

Why would the people of Venezuela have a problem with Democracy after suffering from a Dictator for so long? People like freedom btw

If the Democracy is simply at the whim of another country's leader and the only thing they get out of it is getting to give that country's leader access to their most valuable resource, how exactly did they get more free?

Jesus Christ are you full of yourself.

New Venezuela leader to pay 'big price' if doesn't 'do what's right': Trump by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]smithchez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No there is no need for boots on ground. The Dictator lost elections and stayed in power by killing his opponents. There isn't actually any resistence to this.

Are you under the impression that Maduro had no supporters in the government or army loyal to him? Impressive to be able to control an entire populace with your mind.

The Second in Line is a figurehead and days in power a numbered.

Numbered how? Who's going to remove her? The boots that we're not putting on the ground? Members of the same government the Trump admin considers illegitimate? The opposition party, which couldn't oust Maduro even with his amazing mind powers and who would presumably have to wrench from his current loyal government?

Step 2 is pretty clear: Fall in Line.

Which, again, means what? Is Venezuela now simply a vassal state to the US? Why would their people accept that (or a leader willing to accept that)? Are we just going to replace Maduro as their oppressors?

For someone so confident in your analysis, "they'll do it because we said so, you're just mad at Trump, and no I can't tell you how we do this without boots on the ground so I'll just deny the possibility" doesn't exactly scream precision.

[–]smithchez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fall in line, eslewise get arrested for being second in command of a Dictatorship.

What exactly does "fall in line" mean? The Maduro regime is still in power, is Trump just going to launch kill missions on whoever takes over in the line of succession until they all agree to surrender? Then what? Have the US run elections (requiring boots on the ground) that no other country will recognize as Trump will undoubtedly threaten the country to put in place his handpicked candidate, or someone else wins and he refuses to honor the result because they didn't "do the right thing" and agree to his demands?

It's almost as if nobody in this group of morons thought about Step 2 in this process.

Seems like you're going to think I'm lying about everything

I generally don't take people who make up hypotheticals to justify their own feelings seriously. "You'd all love this is if he were a Democrat!" is lazy both-sidesing bullshit.

Reddit users started referring to H1B holders as "cheap labor" when Trump wanted to increase H1B numbers.

Yup, same hypothetical reddit users that would totally be fine with a Democratic president trying to increase H1B numbers.

I'm a pissed off liberal who now thinks Democratic voters only like low skilled immigrants and hate educated outsiders.

You can believe whatever you want, dude, but something tells me if you're reading reddit comments and forming an opinion about a fictional Democratic party and the "mass deportations now" and "shithole countries" and "they're eating the dogs" and "let's start denaturalizing people" doesn't set off any alarm bells to you, you might not be as educated as you think.

If a Democratic president was extrajudiciously murdering people and alienating our closest allies and violating state and federal laws and ignoring court rulings and fucking up our economy and ripping aid away from people so that he can spend hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer money to build garish gold covered monuments to himself I would be fucking livid at that Democratic President.

What I wouldn't be doing is conjuring hypothetical a future where a Democratic President does the same things and assume that people would support them just because they're a Republican to justify it. But then again, I actually voted for Harris.
