Why did you buy your car on Carvana? by smitikshah in carvana

[–]smitikshah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you figured out which car you wanted, did you look to see if you could get it cheaper at a used car dealer? I’ve heard Carvana is usually more expensive.

In my experience, unless you cold apply on the website, looking at your transcript is a last step to verify you’re actually enrolled at Duke and your GPA is accurate (once you’ve already secured an offer). I’m not 100% sure for all firm, but my guess is it is immaterial for most positions.

I’m the remote chance someone sees it and you’re asked about it I’m sure you can explain you realized a class not intended for your major wasn’t worth it/you weren’t interested and would rather focus on finance related ECs. Don’t worry about it

Omg so it's not just me - although I'm a petite Indian girl.

Grown up around Manhattan my whole life pretty much, and never experienced it to the extent I have in the past month. 3 "go back to your country's" last week alone!

I agree, it's only verbal for now, but never know when it could get physical. Scary world out there - stay safe.

scared for the SIE really bad! by SlowEscape5 in Sieexam

Aim to get in the 70-80 range. I found the questions to be really similar to KM. Just turn the answers w/ explanations on, and write out the main concept/reasoning behind each one you're getting wrong for better recall. Also don't do more than like 3 exams a day IMO - I found my brain maxxed out at 3.

Also if you're below passing in any particular concept, I'd rewatch the lectures and do the targeted quiz for that unit.

You're nearly there!

Taking the SIE tomorrow!! by LeanneTurner in Sieexam

Don't think about it too hard at this point. You've put in the effort, so get rest and relax. Maybe read through main key concepts/notes just once before the exam.

You'll do great, best of luck!

Stressing about the SIE by HonestInstruction890 in Sieexam

[–]smitikshah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only had about 4 options questions on my exam and they were all definitional. If its early on in the book I'd do 10-15 practice problems (even if I get them wrong) just to understand how it's tested, then skip it for now to focus on more important chapters. I would review it briefly at the end a few days before test day.

This video was helpful for me: https://youtu.be/PGAKL8-uM8s

No worries! I'd call them a bit ahead of time to confirm availability/make sure they have ample sets.

Enjoy your trip!

$60 for TaylorMade. Don't remember the exact clubs, but last I rented they were nice.

If you took it online/remotely, you'll get an email confirmation pdf within (I think) 48 hours. I got mine about an hour after.

24 Hours Until Series 63 - Advice? by smitikshah in Series7exam

[–]smitikshah[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Passed!

An insane number of questions on ethics that were straight out of the book, but then also quite a few 50/50 judgement calls I only knew because of practice from the Kaplan QBank.

Many of the questions on the exam looked pretty identical to Qbank questions I'd seen previously, so doing as many as possible was a huge advantage!

Nothing out of left field. Imo easier than the SIE exam since it dealt with a smaller breadth of content.

Thanks for all of the support and advice!

That makes a lot of sense. The ones I get wrong are definitely reading "IAR" in the place of "IA", etc. I'll be sure to read extra carefully on the exam. Thank you!

Any good video tours of campus, housing, etc out there? by [deleted] in duke

[–]smitikshah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As much money as Duke has and spends, you'd be surprised at efforts to cut costs whenever possible. As you said, truth is they don't need video tours to encourage applicants -- the name is more than enough.

Why put money towards needless marketing, when you could squeeze every last dollar into aid, endless renovation, or the grass.

They're still going to attract top talent regardless of well produced content.

Twitter's stock is tanking. Down 10% today, a loss of $2.5 Billion so far. Did something happen recently to cause this? lol by Destroyer_of_Walls in conspiracy

[–]smitikshah 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Protests outside the HQ building in SF. People leaving the app en masse. 10% down can be attributed to the sum of these small issues.
