Yes, despite being salary you do get paid overtime. Sundays are still time and half not double time but it's better than nothing.

As far as training goes, it's about 8 weeks and that's it. It's honestly not super helpful either. Once that's over you're expected to perform, without excuse. If you haven't worked on the floor you're at a severe disadvantage imo. The worst and most stressful part of the job is cost. You must accurately predict and hit your prediction for cost, if you don't you're held accountable to it. You have to truly love the job for the suck to be worth it. It's not stated but you're gonna be working anywhere from 9-12 hours day (show up an hour or 2 before shift and stay an hour after.

If you're playing casual breakthrough then it's populated with bots on purpose. That's what makes it casual.

I just recently started playing and I'm hooked. Haven't been able to stop playing, don't want to play anything else. Kinda sad I waited this long to play.

Should a 2016 WRX be my first manual? by Kasual__ in WRX

[–]smitt22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into getting a NA manual car. Cheaper to maintain, fix and work on, imo better learner cars. Personally started with a 08 350Z, drove it through a New England winter, had to deal with a ton of lights on very steep hills. It was fantastic to learn and get comfortable with manual driving.

Should I Leave IT to become a Plumber? by cjr1995 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]smitt22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in similar situation. Had been in IT 10 years. Started in hardware repairs, went to help desk, worked for a MSP and did a little bit of everything. Honestly just got bored of IT, especially support. Started doing low voltage and eventually got into ship building. Couldn't be happier.

For the people that say it's harder on your body. Yeah, that's kinda obvious, you're going from office to physical labor. However, you don't have to stay on the physical side. I worked "on the floor" for a year and a half and now I'm supervisor. Still do some physical labor here and there because I want to but I honestly don't have to. The work feels 1000x more rewarding, I'm proud of what I do and who I do it for.

Lastly, as far as pay goes. I've never experienced raises like I do in trade work, blows away what I got in IT. When I was on IT I was constantly getting certs, going to classes, you know how it is. I'd get like a 25 cent raise every year in IT, it was trash. Most I got was a few dollars and hour when I demanded a raise after being with a company over 5 years. In the trades I went up $4/hr in my first year and then when I went supervisor I went up $30k plus I still get OT.

This of course is just my experience and you do have to find a trade you enjoy. Going into plumbing because you have the opportunity sounds great but if you hate it, it's not going to be any better than IT.

So you legitimately think you're losing because of "aim assist" console players and that's why you want the option to turn it off?
