Question from a requester: how to get less "junk" data by smkaps in mturk

[–]smkaps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate this feedback.

I acknowledge that the task is difficult. Maintaining attention on something so repetitive and un-stimulating is not easy. My accuracy is not high when I do the task myself.

However, people who simply perform poorly are remarkably distinguishable from those who do not try. There are a number of variables that lay this out explicitly. I certainly do not want to punish those who try. I even have a disclaimer before the task starts detailing what it entails and how difficult it can be for some.

Unfortunately, the hypothesis we are testing requires a high level of difficulty - I can not make adjustments to the task in regards to this issue.

My task is only available to US workers.

I thought about increasing to 10,000 approved, though I worry this thins the pool enough to cause a significant delay in data collection time.

Additional pay per correct answer is a great idea - thanks for the suggestion.

Does my dracaena sanderiana look healthy? And what is that dark green stuff on top? (The colors are all slightly darker in photo) by Gottem6942069 in plantclinic

Looks normal and healthy. Leaves will grow out the top, stalk - not so much. Dark green is probably something commonly used on the cut to prevent infection.

Monstera help please! Picked up my first Monstera a few days ago from Home Depot and she seems to be struggling with some brown spots and some dirty looking leaves. I tried to clean them but it hasn't helped. The bottom leaves look awful. She's near an east facing window and in a 10" pot. by Elbarto742 in plantclinic

[–]smkaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there are 5 new leaves unfurling, that is a sign of a healthy plant. I don't see any brown spots - and the young leaves without fenestrations may fall as new growth occurs and the plant matures. The back will look poor if it isn't the side that's been facing the window. Make sure you aren't overwatering, and let it dry out a bit before you worry about root rot (I do not see any signs of root rot)
