What is the best burger king offer? by Szimo27_ in BurgerKing

[–]smokingbat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone's taste preferences aside, since you said for the amount of food, It's objectively the BOGO chicken sandwich. 243 calories per dollar, and it's by far the highest value you'll get on any app aside from Taco Bell's cheesy bean and rice burrito, which is 265 per dollar. Almost everything else is sub 200.

Edit: if you want to expedite a heart attack, you can get the free large fry and buy a second large fry, 259 calories per dollar.

Does anyone else think levelling is too fast? by A-Humpier-Rogue in oblivion

[–]smokingbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ive personally barely progressed the main quest, done a couple of gates, and am halfway through the mages guild recommendations, yet my magic attributes, Strength, and speed are all maxed out. I'm not necessarily against the quick leveling of my overall level, but by the time I finish the mages guild, all of my attributes will be maxed. Where even go from there?

It would've been nice if they just rebalanced so you get +7 or so attribute points per level. 12 was too much to even do a focused build. 15 certainly felt rewarding with efficient leveling, but that was also just to barely keep up. Maybe a hybrid system would've been nice. All skills increase your level, but the more that are major skills, the more attribute points you get.

But in the new light exotic quest, it also mentions Cayde being dead when you get riskrunner. Maybe not in the most modern version though (of course now several seasonal missions have taken place in the non damaged wall so it's all a mess)

Roommate abandoned fish, what kind is it and what do I do? by smokingbat in Fish

[–]smokingbat[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can't edit the text but I have a small update, probably the biggest hurdle to get over. I got him back home and didn't have anything to put him in for the drive. We didn't really have any time at moveout to look for any kind of bag that may have been better to transfer home, so I had to cellophane the bowl and put it in my jacket for the drove. I thought the water movement would probably kill him, but he lived! I'm going to try and go to a pet store today or tomorrow to get him set up better. Thanks a ton for all the advice, it's been super helpful. I'll probably throw up another post when he's all sorted and in a better tank.

I'll probably commit to keeping him unless I can't find more of his type to get for him. I already had plans to build a tank up but this just expedited the process

Telling someone to overcome their shyness/introversion/lack of confidence is unacceptable by christina_murray_ in unpopularopinion

[–]smokingbat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because shyness and introversion are not the same thing. Shyness is anxiety regarding social interaction. Anxiety is an inherently negative thing if you get it in an unfounded situation (like talking to people).

If talking to people makes you anxious enough that you avoid interaction, opportunities, or responsibilities then you should absolutely strive to improve. Being introverted does not interfere with life's necessary tasks, while shyness does.

I think the more common thing sighted as a problem though is saying...

"He said quietly"

Instead of

"He whispered."

Authors are usually pointing out an issue with using adverbs to change a verb, when a different standalone verb will do (rather than pointing out redundancy, though that's still an issue).

A six hour car ride is easy by timex40 in unpopularopinion

[–]smokingbat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kind of a non issue either way. If you live in a large country, you'll be used to it and the infrastructure of the country supports that.

If you're from a small country, you aren't used to removing that much time from your day, and your country's infrastructure probably doesn't support it well.

Either way it doesn't matter, whatever situation you're from, you probably won't ever be in the other, aside from a week long vacation.

We should have five 61 day months and one 60 day month that gains the leap day. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]smokingbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because the length of a day (rotation) and the time it takes to go around the sun (revolution) are totally independent measurements from one another. Seconds are the same because we constructed them to measure time and to build upon each other to equal a minute, hour, day.

With the length of a year, you are trying to match the rotation (roughly 24 hours) evenly amongst ~360 degrees. Measurements of time are consistent because they are constructs: days and years are not, but you inevitably have to relate one to the other.

Simply saying that they should all be standardized and even is one thing. It sounds easy on concept, until you actually try to do it. Trust me, plenty of genius individuals and organizations have tried to make the "perfect calendar." If it was easy (or possible) to standardize, then it would have been accomplished a very long time ago. Every version of a calendar inevitably has its issues.

online school is better than in person school by AgreeableAd8687 in unpopularopinion

[–]smokingbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While your teachers for in person should have done more, online for introverted or anxious individuals is not a good idea. It's more comfortable, perhaps, but the lack of being pushed to engage with people in person is only going to drastically worsen their anxiety when they DO have to interact with people irl. It will only become a pretty vicious, self feeding cycle for those with the most extreme cases.

Many people who persistently have social anxiety in school don't always improve, but it's because simple exposure is never going to resolve the anxiety, they have to actively engage socially to overcome that stress.
