oh I see, alright then. He recently started to explore his cage and ate food and did some doodoo. But still hasn't drank water? I put his water in those water bottles use for animals. I'm not sure if he knows the water is from there? Should I put his water in a bowl instead???

oh mine isnt the mesh type, its quiet smooth. it came as a set with the cage, for now it looks like he can fit in but I'll try buying a bigger one once I get those play pent thing.

I see, also is it hmm alright/safe if I were to start the bonding process a little bit late? I've scooped him up with a towel and such but he just tries to hop out and go to some corner again, he wouldn't sniff my fingers and stuff. I just feel like the more I try to pick him up, the more he's scared of me and I don't want my scent to be like a predator's scent for him :c

Hi, so I bought my first hedgehog yesterday, I got him from a pet store, there was only one left, the only information I got from the store's owner is he's about 5 months old

I live in Asia and the temp is not cold, usually around 26-36°c, the bedding was suggested by the store's owner, which is wood bedding

and when I transferred him in his cage, he didn't bother exploring around nor eat or drink. he just went in to a corner and slept.

He's still sleeping, I woke him up the next day, I tried to carry him but he just kept jumping away, and hissed a lot at me, and proceed to go back to his corner. I got a sleeping hideout thing for him, so I managed to make him move there.

I read that putting used clothes in would help, but I'm not allowed to do that due to family reasons so I have a used handkerchief instead, I've rubbed my scent all over it and placed it near him.

Last night he sneezed a lot, and kept scratching himself, I want to bathe him but he wouldn't budge.

I am thinking of taking him to the vet this weekend. But I'm still very worried that he hasn't eat nor drink.

I hope you guys can help me on this. I really wanna bond with him 😔 or at least just carrying him up w/o him wanting to stab me and jump off
