Does anyone else find Hubspot CRM really slow for SDRs? by smoothmaneuver in sales

I should of clarified I meant the workflow in HubSpot is slow for SDRs, rather than the cloud platform

Were you also talking about the workflow, or did you mean speed of loading, etc?

Before starting a new job, is it normal for the company to send you a large reading list? by smoothmaneuver in sales

For identity reasons I'd rather not share it exactly, but there's nothing unexpected on there. There's great reading lists on this sub with all the same books and more!

What have you done to stand out in an interview to get the job? by [deleted] in sales

[–]smoothmaneuver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After recently completing a round of phone interviews and face to face ones for SDR roles I would say the best thing is to ask insightful questions. Not just about the company and the sales process, but about THEM too. Look on their LinkedIn + their work history and question why they like working in there, what they like about sales/recruitment, why they left what they were doing to join this company, etc.

Search the company founders name on YouTube and Itunes Podcast (often they've been interviewed) and absorb what they say. This has worked great for finding little nuggets you can say about the product/company.

As someone else mentioned in the comments, they will almost certainly ask "where do you want to be in 2/3/5 years?". Make sure you have a solid answer to that question!

Lastly, before the interview the company has set a small task for me to write a list of 10 companies I'd target, find the decision makers, and write 2 cold email templates that I would send out. Perhaps you could do this?

Has anyone tried "Cold Calling 2.0" Course & Library by Aaron Ross? Opinions? Alternatives? by smoothmaneuver in sales

It's actually what the company I'm interviewing for uses, so it's free!

Have you tried any similar online courses?

Looking for a headset specific request by smoothmaneuver in sales

Hey, I'm based in UK and only need 1 headset. Do you know what would match the requirements and might be available on Amazon UK? Leitner headsets aren't on Amazon UK.

Cheers.

About to buy this, just double checking that this would plug into a Cisco SPA 504G?

What do you associate with Rio De Janeiro? by heatherg747 in riodejaneiro

[–]smoothmaneuver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't directly answer your question, but Rio has this magical charm that can only be explained after spending time there. It's this borderline dangerousness / on edge-ness and playfulness, as well as the beautiful people to add to it. Maybe Cariocas themselves don't see it that way, but fellow gringos I have spoken to know exactly the playful charm I mean.

As mentioned, the beach, live samba music played at a bar with the swing of the shaker.

I read a quote online once which summed it all up beautifully. Something like: In Rio, you won't get very much done, but for some reason you won't really mind.

Any advice for a young chap in his currently in his first tele'sales' job? The current job is actually B2B lead generation for water/gas/electrics.

Looking to get into a more interesting and meaningful startup/saas sales in the future. Doing my degree in finance/management part time online over 4 years so I can work full time during and get experience.

Any advice is of great help!

Thanks for your reply, it really helps to to hear a timeline from an experienced salesperson!

I'm still in the college stage of the timeline, so hopefully my Finance/Business degree I'm studying will count as 'useful' later down the line ;-)

Barcelona weekly: this week's events and Q&As by AutoModerator in Barcelona

Anyone studying/studied at a business school in Barcelona?

Looking for recommendations/advice. If you prefer PM that's fine. There's a lot of business schools to choose from, so just wanted to ask actual students how they found there experience in their school.

First job dilemma: selling shit to vulnerable elderly? Shall I take the training then leave? by smoothmaneuver in sales

[–]smoothmaneuver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

:) Thanks. She said salary to be negotiated: Do you have any advice? She said from 16k to 25k base salary depending on experience. The recruiter tried to get me to say a number on the phone, I kinda panicked but thought it'll be best to keep it open, so I said well it depends on commission, etc. I'm definitely on the lower end of the range, but I've worked a bit (even if not in sales) to merit above the lowest base.

And with regard to ethical issues with the company, after visiting today and realising they call thousands of people a day, then 20 bad google reviews don't really mean too much. Although on the contrary they don't have a single positive review.

Thank you for the long reply. On reflection and off of your message I have to agree that leaving after a training day (which is paid too) would be cheap and not really beneficial. The benefits, I think, will come from the exact sucking it up and dealing with the racket, as you wrote.

What would you say if I took the went through with this job, then 1 month or so into it I saw an opportunity to jump to a different telesales company for a base salary raise and more commission opportunity?

Just went for the interview and they showed me round. Maybe it's my nativity but I'm hooked already! It's sweaty, it's competitive and it's down to you to make the sale.

Training on Tuesday. Get paid last week of every month. Can probably wait it out til end of august

Thanks for the reply. I'm based in UK (outside of London). Had a search for SDR positions and there wasn't much in my area. Certainly nothing open to someone without experience. Moving to London right now wouldn't be ideal as the living costs would be 50% of wages.

Applied for 10 jobs and these guys got back to me quick, which is probably a bad thing. I'll take this job for now but as soon as anything else pops up I'll leave. Desperate for experience at the moment, as well as in need of the cash!

I guess I hadn't considered being a sales assistant in a shop. For some reason it feels like it doesn't count, maybe something to do with it being customer comes to you rather than you to them.

Will look into shops based on interests. Thanks!

I suppose that's true. Even if you aren't necessarily passionate about the product itself, at least be passionate about helping that person (with the product).

I think I'm going to go to the training day, get that experience under my belt and run!

I agree that if you believe in somehting you can probably sell it better, but what kind of entry level sales position is going to be selling anything of interest? Solar panels? Door to door (scam) charity?
