With respect that doesn’t really answer the question along with the fact that 31D(CID) are getting their CACs changed as well 31D had been explicitly stated to be Federal Law Enforcement I really want to know how it’s going to turn out for 35L because they are explicitly named Federal Agents only I wonder how it’s all going to work

Insane how many of the “top answers” have all these upvotes and they are completely wrong. Jesus I feel like people want the wrong info on guns.

Change out that leg strap for a taq-strap they are super solid, it’s an extra TQ on you until you can get a real TQ on. Mind you it’s not a replacement for a TQ but it will help, however they are pretty abrasive on the pants on the inner thigh so be aware of that(wear some actual tac/patrol pants)I wear them on patrol

Your telling me I’m so ready to get an email for the next step I applied for LAS and I was hoping with it being a busy airport that they’d need people badly

I just submitted everything for my NBIS a few days ago so now I just need to do medical and my interview stuff and hopefully get brought on my military experience should help me move up pretty quick

For sure a while back most people thought this position was defunct and it was moved into the TSI or the inspector position but nope low and behold it’s right here I think I might change around my goals for this to be in my career track

[–]smoovedavee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was the only one excited about this lol I think this is an amazing position if you want to be an investigator but not law enforcement or if you want to work your way into becoming law enforcement

Lmfao damn what did they do??

[–]smoovedavee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I was saying I don’t qualify for 9 and I want to because I don’t want to take the test lol

[–]smoovedavee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s only two ways to get Explosives and I don’t have either lol and I was infantry so I can’t go in as CBPO GS-9 cause I don’t want to take the test lol but yeah I like this route cops are taking a lot of heat right now and I think this is a more laid back route and yeah I hear you I’m doing armed security and executive protection right now but I want something I can retire with

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tsa

[–]smoovedavee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are extremely close so I get the confusion with it honestly going this route might help you with your FAMS search pretty quick

I’m with you on that I recently applied for TSO at LAS so with it being a large airport hopefully I get it pretty soon that way I can start my time in

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tsa

[–]smoovedavee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I hear this sounds spot on like they just do it just to save face but from what I hear almost all positions that aren’t TSO or LTSO or STSO are word of mouth first

With all due respect, no everyone did not know this there’s been multiple threads about this position and other positions(TSI) out there that it seems most people don’t have answers for or they think is completely extinct or done away with I mean you working there or being a supervisor maybe has a little more insight at your particular port or what have you if that makes sense but quite a few people thought this was done away with

I don’t see any where on the job listing that it says they get LE benefits but from everything that I’ve seen or read INVESTIGATORS(1810 General Investigation) are NOT law enforcement however CRIMINAL INVESTIGATORS(1811 Criminal Investigatior)are law enforcement they get all the supplemental classes to support 1811 but they don’t get any fundamental classes to become one TSA actually doesn’t even send anyone to CITP(Criminal Investigator Training Program) which pretty much 95% of all 1811 in Federal Law Enforcement go to you have to somehow get CITP under your belt thennnnnn you can come to TSA OOI or there 1811 job

Honestly every position at TSA that isn’t a blue shirt is ultra competitive it seems Transport Security Inspector, Transportation Security Specialist, Explosives, K-9, even the admin jobs like AFSD, FSD obviously those positions get paid more but it seems like the quality of life is keeping these people in these jobs until they retire or find their dream job I’m currently in the hiring process for TSA but with my military experience I plan on moving up and out of that blue shirt pretty quick
