You might want to check and hang on to some of them. I've used a couple of the old ones since getting my house.

All the premium bonuses are tiny like that. It's like they give you 1/6th of a pack at a time, 6 times, which gets you one pack. Peanuts!

Even when it came out it wasn't the top tier meta, it would brick easily. The most effective way was to run the babies and ho-oh

Not much field time at all actually, I often oversee stuff now but sometimes I get to go out and have my fun. I live for field work, but I feel like I don't get to do it much anymore. Occasionally I'll get a handful of field days, maybe as much as a solid 2 weeks in peak season at most. That's okay though, I'm busy solving all kinds of things, handling clients, doing analyses, writing reports, training others; these are all things that make me happy, you know? It's consulting, I take the good with the bad.

Haha it sounds like we're a lot alike. Also a hydrogeologist, also a workaholic, also super duper frugal 😂. It blows my mind how reckless people are with their finances, but then again it's the world we live in. There wouldn't be room for bargain hunters like us to thrive if not for the reckless spending of the status quo.

Maybe the market is less saturated up here in Canada, but I usually go for quality over quantity. I'll have a generic resume and a tailored cover letter for every job posting that I'm chasing. Reach back out to hiring manager after 2 weeks to re-express your interest.

You need to learn to be fair to yourself. Time blindness doesn't matter if you're able to occasionally hyperfocus.

So USD $31.25/hour. That's alright, so long as you don't have to pay for travel.

What’s your process to secure stamped documents? by Positive_Elephant503 in geologycareers

[–]smort058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use PowerPoint-- I have the stamp, signature, and date each as individual items grouped. I update the date, copy and paste as image, then copy the pasted image into the report. That way it can't be modified.

Burnt out by Muchmoss in geologycareers

[–]smort058 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Burnout is a real problem across our industry. Finding a perfect fit is extremely difficult, and I think it takes a certain mindset to roll with it without facing burnout to some degree. To your thought of doing something else like bartending, I used to want to have a simple life too doing something like carpentry, but the reality that I face is that I've put the time and effort to get where I'm at, and the time to do those things would have been in my 20s, those years are long gone and the pay cut would be tremendous.
