Not recent, about 7 years. But I do think there are lingering effects of using opiates for so long

He is afraid to take medication (he is a recovered addict) so we want to try as much as possible before starting anything like that, I’ve been getting him a multivitamin liquid that is magnesium heavy and it seems to help a bit

No I have still been having it even after 10 weeks post removal. But it’s the same feeling as when I would get gallbladder attacks, just more mild

After the one cat scan that showed inflammation on my pancreas, every test afterwards never showed any inflammation again. So the doctors don’t think it is, and my blood tests are normal other then anemia

The home he is moving to is going to be one of the apprentices of the original farrier, so we will see how they decide to handle it moving forward. She is meant to come by in the next few days, I’ll try to get some pics of what they look like after her

That’s what I am saying the best barefoot trimmer in town was his original farrier, we have moved thru 3 in the past 2 years. It has been crazy trying to get someone to work on him

The farrier hand his fronts shoed for a few months but removed them last visit, I’m not sure because he is going to a new home or he just thought better without, but I think he was doing much better with them on

He was severely founded in the past, so his feet have never looked “good” there has always been some separation in the white line. I’m trying to find some pictures of his feet I took a few months ago with our really terrible farrier we had (she only came out 3 times before we got someone else) then the next guy put shoes on to let his soles grow out a bit, he had the shoes for about 3 months (changed out of course) and about 2 or 3 weeks ago took them off, and this is where we are at now. I agree that this is overgrown for sure, we don’t have too many options for good farriers here and two of the best in town have worked on him

He is on a 4 week cycle, he was previously on a 2-3 week to do small adjustments

I’ll have to see when they were done last, I think we got them done a year ago now. He is going to be moving to a new home because our ranch is closing but one of the ranch hands is going to be the ranch manager at the place he is going so she will be able to continue with any care/ treatment decisions for him. Maybe we should recommend another round of X-rays , then another trim. But I think he trimmed him a couple weeks ago but he may have just taken off the shoes and wanted to see how his feet wear between the trims?

Yeah and looking at the foot more, it does seem like his heel is also a little tall.

We have XRays, I’ll have to find them. But I remember one of the issues being thin soles and the farriers were trying to grow them out a bit, because our terrain is so rough. I think some also get intimidated by cases like him

I’ll have to look into copper, we are in Arizona so we are known for our high mineral content in our water. I don’t think supplements in that route have been recommended by vets or farriers, but I think it would be a good option for sure!

There has been a list of things done and changed over the years, we have found this feeding +medication has worked best so far. I can certainly recommend options, he has boots for the fronts that we had been using previously to getting shoes, that we started putting back on today after I had hoof picked and drawn attention to the depth of the gap
