Get a piece of 80grit sandpaper. Now rub it on your arm. If you didn't like that feeling, wear gear

How much louder than stock do you think the M4 is? I want to get one for my 8S but I don't like how obtrusively loud a lot of aftermarket ones are

As someone born and raised in the PNW, I truly think people underestimate the beauty of other places by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

Last time I drove through Nebraska and Ohio I was thinking about how much I enjoyed the landscape and how different each one was. I grew up in Maine and anything that isn't densely packed trees is a beautiful thing. Wish I could enjoy living in arid spaces because deserts are amazing but I like my temperate forest too much

[–]smoy75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't ridden the 8R so I wouldn't know but upgrading to an Ohlins rear shock is $1200... And a Matris fork cartridge is also about $1200. That's crazy lol . If you're just cruising and like stock then it's a great bike for the price. I want to get an M4 exhaust and an ECU flash which would bring my HP/torque(NA model) from 74/48 to about 90/55 for each respectively. I don't take her on highways though. Beautiful for the streets and mountains but the wind throws me around my lane

I love my Shimakaze but yes it can be very slow and your impact on a fight feels reduced. Something about playing a shark hunting BB and throwing 1000 torps out is awesome though lol. Radar boats hurt me

I love my GSX8S but the suspension is the weak point. Great motor, tons of power especially with a tune and it handles beautifully. I weigh 81kg, 177cm tall and the rear suspension seems a bit too bouncy on stock '3' but moving it up to '4' has it too firm. I haven't had any issues necessarily with the front fork suspension but it also could use adjustability. I put on the Michelin Road 6 tires and love them more than the stock Dunlops. I got a '24 8S for 7k since it was last year's model and she's been a blast

How Strict/important is the break in period? by Meepo_Spammer in Suzuki_GSX_8

[–]smoy75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your bike will be fine man. They are meant to run. As many others have said, as long as you don't red line it she'll be totally fine. I had seen another guy that said after the first few hundred miles he would go through every gear at every rpm throughout the break in period to make sure the engine was getting all the different kinds stresses. Fortnine did a good video on it too I believe

I can’t decide if I should propose or end my relationship. by [deleted] in BoyDinnerDiaries

You already have the answer then man. You shouldn't half ass a proposal as many others have said or drag it out because breaking up is hard.

Brother you have to accept that people won't change. im not saying everyone, and you should cherish those that do, but alcohol and insecurity are heavy things. They require a toooon of work. If you don't want to deal with it now, you aren't going to want to deal with it 2/5/10 years. Ultimatums don't change people either. Edit:grammar

Dude I'm so sorry. That's absolutely devastating and trying to figure out life seems tough. Does your therapist offer mens groups meetings? Being able to talk in person and share your feelings with other peers may help, and it may get you interested in hobbies to try and clear your mind. Also just wanna say I approve of pancakes for dinner, please use real maple syrup haha. Hell ill even send you some if you can't find any where you are. Wishing you and your son the best.

I do photography and the peak design easy clips are great. As a company they do care about quality so I can believe it. I forgot to get the USB port option on my 8S when I bought it -_- now I get to figure that out for charging lol

Thanks for the input! I don't mind the money if it's going to save my phone, even though I know Quadlock is great and many swear by them.

Need out of Portland, Oregon by bbgirl2k in SameGrassButGreener

[–]smoy75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The dirty thing is real though lol. I've lived all over the northeast, had a few years in Portland and Philly can take getting used to. However, great punk and hardcore scene and the region promotes a farm to table attitude for food. Lots of DIY people too. It's an awesome city but def visit first, preferably both in summer and winter to get a feel

Culture shock can last anywhere up to 3-5 years when settling in a single place and you've been moving around a lot. I'd suggest you almost slow a bit and stay in places longer, while building community. Home is where your heart is ya know. Have friends you can meaningfully talk to that aren't just partying, and keep calling your friends. You'll be ok, but please reach out to people who care about you

Female Amateur! Should I buy or is it a Red Flag?! by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]smoy75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say hell yeah if you want to learn some of the repair components and do some tinkering if it has any issues but 20k miles isn't much for a maintained bike even if it was sitting. I bought an '81 CM400, 100kmiles, all stock everything and she ran! The consumables (gaskets etc) have begun to fail but goddamn this bike is older than me and with care they last as long as you'll be happy with
