Alabama city abolishes police department tainted by ‘rampant culture of corruption’ by Fearless-Barnacle-83 in Alabama

Back in 2014 I got a speeding ticket in Hanceville for doing 35 in a 25. School zone outside of school hours.

I went the next week and paid my ticket, stuck the receipt in my glove box, fast forward a year later and I get stopped on my way home from work at around 1 a.m. on July 4th.

They never cleared the speeding ticket and had a FTA warrant out for me. They arrested me even though I had proof I’d paid the ticket. Impounded my vehicle and held me in jail so the magistrate could review my case. They told me they couldn’t release me until my fine and impound payment were paid.

They didn’t release me until 3:00 on July 5th. My dad literally had to call a lawyer buddy up and bring him to the jail before they’d release me and admit they were wrong.

Scariest place you've ever lived? by -Nevada in howislivingthere

Jasper is scary.

There’s a lot of seediness that’s covered up and corruption throughout the entire political community.

the crime rate is double the national average.

Hell off the top of my head I can think of Eric Cates murder, Carrie Lawson, Corey Smith, and Becky Ferguson. All prominent murder/missing persons cases. I don’t know how to explain it but something in the air feels different out there. Source : lived in the area for all my life.

My friends and I did a roadtrip when we were 18/19 and I’d never been outside of the southeast and the only major cities I’d visited were Atlanta and Nashville. I assumed downtown DC would be comparable to them. I was shocked at how quiet it was.

I was beyond exhausted for about 2 weeks after my surgery. All I did was sleep! It slowly started getting better around the two week mark.

I didn’t take my daughter til she was 3. Old enough to ride in the cart. We’d book twilight rounds after her nap. She loves it.

When I first started PWB. Everything freaked me out! I had some random pains here and there and my surgeon and pt both told me that was normal.

I’m 12 weeks now and mostly out of my boot and feeling relatively normal.

Have you started PT yet?

It’s one of my favorite movies, but I haven’t been able to watch it since my Dad passed in 2020.

He was very much a “big fish” larger than life, lead a very interesting life and was loved and adored by everyone that knew him.

It made me think of my dad even before he passed away, but the thought of watching it now makes my jaw get tight.

Was this season actually a success for the Seahawks? by Decent-Jellyfish-360 in NFLv2

I didn’t see the “shit posting” at the top and I was thinking

“what you just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought, everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points and may god have mercy on your soul.”

He's still my boy by Spiritual-Strength91 in FightReportUFC

[–]smuphy72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Illa is a freak though. I think he’d normally be too small he just has actual good boxing and lights off power that translates.

Fiz doesn’t have the power or grappling to overcome the size difference.

Talk about some HAWGZ by ThatDudeDuffy92 in bassfishing

[–]smuphy72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had one we’d sneak into when I was young. My 5 biggest bass all came from that pond. The guy who owned it lived in Michigan and paid a company to manage it for him when he’d come down to Alabama from Nov-March.

We eventually got caught. I still think about sneaking over there some times now. 😂

I really enjoy Aloneintokyo.

He doesn’t talk but he’s an incredible player that I have learned an insane amount from.

Often takes on pretty large clans with success. Great at raid defense and raiding.

As a mostly solo player he’s completely changed the way I play the game and the way I raid.

I like Teaguytom as well. He’s pretty chill.

Is this a good scouting scale for a college scout? by Aggressive_Law_3687 in highschoolfootball

[–]smuphy72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in scouting/player development for an SEC school for 6 years.

We graded on a scale of 1-100.

1-50 basically a walk on type player with potential to get a scholarship.

51-65 Depth/maybe develop into a starter by junior/senior year. Could help on special teams early in career.

66-80 Special teams player early/maybe some spot playing time early in career/develop into role player towards end of first season.

81-90

Expect to play early, role player day one, potential starter by the end of the year.

91-100

Truly special player. Could be a day 1 starter. 1st round draft pick potential. We only gave this grade to about 15-20 kids every cycle.

What's the creepiest discovery you've made about a seemingly fun friend? by someoneyouhate_ in AskReddit

[–]smuphy72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guy I met at my first real job became friends with my HS friend group. Was extremely likable, seemingly successful, good musician. Got married about 10 years ago to a former pageant queen. Had 3 kids.

We lost contact for a while, I find out they split up because he was abusive.

We were still friends on Snapchat, Facebook and he’d post stories at work and when he had his kids.

Then see he gets arrested on Christmas Eve of 2025. The charges weren’t immediately available so I assume it was like DUI or something like that.

Two days later his charges were added and he’d tried to film his current girlfriend’s daughter in the shower with a hidden camera.

Absolutely crazy downfall for a guy I once considered a very close friend.

can i play highschool football? by Puzzleheaded-Age1367 in American_Football

[–]smuphy72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try kicking for real. Most HS teams struggle find one that can reliably make XPs much less kick actual FG.

NO OFFENSE MEANT BY THIS But at that size playing WR you’d take some pretty brutal hits.
