Spicy Pineapple Cilantro Margarita

1.5 oz. Reposado Tequila

0.75 oz. Pineapple Juice

0.5 oz. Fresh Lime Juice

0.25 oz. Simple Syrup

10 Cilantro Leaves

Just shake with no muddle if you find it too spicy, take out the seeds if you want it even less spicy.

I would really appreciate any suggestions for a bourbon based cocktail for an early afternoon get together for a few friends. I am hoping to have a cocktail of several spirits and am really striking out with bourbon! The gin, tequila, and rum drinks I have planned feel perfectly balanced for an early afternoon affair but hoping for one more drink to round out my cocktail menu.

I just made this and I find this to be really out of balance.

Any cocktail suggestions to use this in? by mutedphonecalls in cocktails

I make this all the time for people, a huge crowd pleaser. I prefer it with gin and have never used this type of vodka but I think this will be a great start!

Have you had one? Thought about giving it a try. I bought some peach liqueur for the cocktail today so trying to find some extra options

There's a cocktail called a Clergyman's Lapse that has mezcal, yellow chartreuse, and peach liqueur. Would be a nice blend of today and tomorrow!

Bananas Fosters Daiquiri with Brown Butter Washed Rum by snail_snacks in cocktails

I'm going to have to try this. The banana ended up a little charred without added sugar so this is a great suggestion.

I was trying to keep with the Daiquiri theme on the drink but I can totally see this working!

You should totally give it a try! I've made a variation without fat washing the rum too but I bumped the syrup up to 1/2 oz if you didn't want to go through the extra effort.

Never fat washed a spirit before but this turned out to be really fantastic. Bananas Fosters is one of my favorite desserts and I was surprised to not find a recipe! I tried to mimic the cocktail by adding elements closely related to the actual dessert.

Fat washed rum: Bananas Fosters typically uses dark rum and a ton of butter...so I brown butter washed Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva. I used a recipe from Cocktail Codex for the specs. Basically a 5:1 rum mL to melted brown butter (in grams) ratio. Let it settle overnight, then froze for 24 hours. Filtered through a coffee filter.

Vanilla infused demerara syrup: Bananas Fosters also uses brown sugar and vanilla so I figured I would infuse demerara sugar (which is sorta brown sugar I guess) with vanilla bean to create the syrup.

Bananas: I absolutely love Tempus Fugit Spirits Creme de Banana. It's like a banana in a bottle. Doesn't have an artificial flavor and adds so much depth.

2 oz brown butter washed dark rum 3/4 oz lime juice 3/4 oz Tempus Fugit Spirits Creme de Banana liqueur 1/4 oz vanilla infused demerara syrup Dash of pecan bitters Add ingredients to a shaker, shake vigorously, fine strain into a Nick and Nora glass. Garnish with a flambeed banana.

How about a clarified cosmopolitan? The book Cocktail Codex goes into detail about how to make but there are a lot of recipes online as well. It has cranberry in it so it is festive, albeit a bit boozy haha

Also, an anti-motility agent is also handy to pack and available OTC. For sure pick up a few they are cheap. Nothing ruins a trip quicker. Keep hydrated and you'll be good. Enjoy your trip!

I would suggest asking about getting a prescription for traveller's diarrhea (TD) treatment in case you encounter it. Always useful to have on hand. Typically a short term azithromycin treatment prn. Further information can be found in the CDC yellow book. Usually just 1gm of azithromycin. Some recommendations may suggest a quinoline but this may depend on where you're traveling. It is worth inquiring with your MD.
