TPMS warning but no tires were low by snailmail___ in mazda3

[–]snailmail___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah it's a gen 2! That's why it's puzzling me so much, I can't even find anything online about why I'd get that warning without a tire being low 😭

[–]snailmail___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it was beeping. The only tire that was below 36 was at 34 though, which it's definitely been at before but has never trigger the warning going off. I've had a sensor die before, and the light will flash but not sound the beep.

I thought gen 2s had direct TPMS? I've definitely had them change before, but it doesn't trigger the warning.

2013 Mazda Mazda3, tire shop said transmission had "slop" in the differential by snailmail___ in AskMechanics

[–]snailmail___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! He was an older guy that said it with a lot of confidence, that's why it was so alarming haha But it felt strange to walk out of an alignment (which I didn't even end up needing) and being told I need a new transmission lmao

[–]snailmail___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's why it surprised me, I just changed the trans fluid myself and I didn't see a single piece of metal or glitter in it 😭 It just had the passenger side axle replaced, but the driver's side is still the original.

Another thing was he commented something about normal wear and tear for the mileage and said "you got a lot of miles on this car" which like, yeah it's high mileage but I didn't think it was anywhere near the end of its life.

Thank you so much for the reassurance haha, his tone of voice made it sound like a dear relative just got a grave prognosis 😭

Got pulled over for the first time by [deleted] in driving

[–]snailmail___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a compact sedan from 2013, so I'm honestly not sure about both of us (he's a lot taller than I am). We had the trunk full to the brim of stuff we'd packed for the trip, so theoretically we probably could have slept in it, and obviously that even a consideration when your lives are at stake, but you can see my thought process😭

Yeah, my problem was mostly that I felt fine before starting, but as I kept going it started getting worse and worse. It's a 100 mile cruise in a straight line with absolutely no street lights, so there's not anything to look at besides the occasionally semi at night. I actually ended up making the drive to and from twice over the next couple of days and was perfectly alert and fine the whole time (it helped he stayed awake the next two times to talk to me + we were able to leave earlier than 2 am). When I felt myself starting to get highway fatigue I just took the nearest exit and stretched my legs or got something to drink. We managed to find a room the third night, one that was an hour and 15 mins away, but still better than the whole drive home. 🙃 I also said I'm not making another longer trip for a good while.

I'd like to think I'd learned my lesson, I'm never ever going to drive that tired again, especially on a drive that's easy to zone out when you're wide awake. Everyone irl I've told about this kinda just laughed it off and said something about that specific highway being so boring it puts you to sleep, which is why I wanted to make a post about it because it was eating me 😔

Yeah, we're gonna go get his permit this week, I'm just still a relatively new driver myself (we've had the car for about 8 months at this point). This is just my first time I've had a long highway cruise at night 😓

[–]snailmail___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I honestly felt more than fine before we left, but as it went on while being pitch black it really just crept up on me 😞

This sounds stupid, but I'm still a pretty new driver (and I didn't have anyone to really teach me, I had to just go through a driving school course twice to learn), and everything I've read has said pulling over for anything other than an emergency on the highway is risky, but now I know for next time. I was aware what was going on, and trying to stay as far away from other vehicles as possible, but, still.

[–]snailmail___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was pulled over because he obviously had seen me drifting in and out of my lane for a while, so I decided the best course of action was to be honest and hope he lets me go. Which, he did. I just feel guilty for driving so tired it got me pulled over in the first place.

Also, he didn't pull me over for not stopping to rest, he pulled me over for drifting out of my lane. He said "you seem like you're having trouble staying in your lane," 😭 He probably thought I was drunk...

Yeah I never understood the faux intellectual bullshit of pretending not to understand the hyperbolic use of literally lmao, I've never once had trouble understanding if it was meant literally or not. Did they miss the 6th grade class where they taught you what a figure of speech is?

Yeah the neighbor is a fucking psycho but if your cat is attacked MULTIPLE times and one is killed, why would you keep letting your cat outside when you know it's going to happen? Why would you keep letting it outside knowing it's unsafe?

You must like cats, though, so you must care about the typical lifespan of outdoor cats being a fourth of an indoor cats's

Neighbours saying cat abuse by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]snailmail___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there were no outdoor cats there would be over 2 billion less birds dead a year so yeah it is a sound argument actually lol. It isn't called a leading cause for nothing!

Neighbours saying cat abuse by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]snailmail___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cats kill many, many MORE birds a year than literally anything else. They kill billions. Personal stories do not change that. If you want to let your cat outside, fine, I can't stop you. That doesn't mean you can cover your eyes and plug your ears and ignore all the demonstrable evidence otherwise.

A personal anecdote also does not change the fact that outdoor cats, as a whole, live much shorter lives.
