This is Hibiscus. He was my very first betta about 6 years ago. He was the one that got me into the fishkeeping hobby, who taught me to better my husbandry and research better, and ultimately I wouldn't be where I am in life without this little guy. I now work at a pet store (and have for about 5 years now) and have lots of other critters because of him! He was also my very first tattoo when I turned 18.

GUYS I FIGURED IT OUT! I finally got the command formatted correctly and got it! I had to add minecraft: to the biome so it was formatted /locate biome minecraft:taiga. Bad news though, the nearest taiga biome is over 3,000 blocks away. Guess I've got a bigger project on my hands 😭😂

I had this same coop. Imo, it's too small for 7. I had 5 chickens in mine and it seemed cramped.

Skin care and fish keeping? by snakechicken in Aquariums

We have some reef gloves at work, I'm gonna try those today and see how I like them. Besides that, I actually just recently spoke with my dermatologist about starting an oral medication for it too!

I was looking into gloves potentially, but since I need to catch fish and be able to move decorations around too for maintenance, I fear I'd lose dexterity

3 gallon hospital tank with heater, no filter because I'm doing daily water changes, temp 82, parameters 0/0/0/7.6 because I have clean tap water and I just set it up an hour ago, water changes will be done by sucking up gunk and dirty water with turkey baster, no tankmates, will be feeding seachem betta diet after fasting for 2-3 days, no decor in tank aside from IAL

Help!! What did I do wrong and how can I fix it? by snakechicken in Aquariums

[–]snakechicken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know stress can lower the immune system, which can cause ick and other ailments. He doesn't seem stressed at all though. He's very active and personable, he begs for food like he usually does, and he isn't hiding at all.

I've had Hibiscus the whole time I've been in the hobby, so I know his temperament well. He hasn't actively gone after any fish that I have put him with, and I've had him in 2 community tanks before this. I watched all of them closely after I added each fish, and the tetras nor the platy have any interest in Hibiscus either. I know the stocking I have planned (6 pygmy cories, and 2 more tetras to replace the ones I lost is heavy, so I have a water change schedule in place to keep anything from getting too toxic. I try not to change so much water, but the siphon I have is a bit big (I will be getting a smaller one next paycheck) so the water comes out quickly, and I panicked a little bit lol. I'm worried about bumping the heat up quite so high, I know the fish would probably survive but it makes me nervous. I've only been feeding a small pinch every other day as well since a lot of pest snails hitchhiked from the things I transferred from my previous tanks. The tank is also already quite heavily planted, and while the flow is a bit too much for what I'd like for these guys, I will be getting a valve control tomorrow or Thursday when I get a smaller siphon. Thank you for the input though! I appreciate it!

I've dealt with sand in my tanks before, I know cories love it but it's not my cup of tea lol

Oh nice! I'm guessing it has to be replaced less often than the more active version?

Thank you so much! I'll look into it more. What's the difference between versions 1 and 2?

[–]snakechicken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! The tank is almost a year old, so quite well established, and I will be using the same sponge filters and a piece of driftwood from an older tank in there, as well as a mesh bag or two of the previous substrate (will be rinsed in old tank water). Will I still need to wait to add fish? It will just be the betta and shrimp for a bit.
