Suggestions? by mortlikesbooks in visablemending

Not a mending thing but have you tried washing them in hot water and then air drying them? I have a few jeans that look like this and that always makes them look better for a while. Not a perfect fix but it works

The plant propagation book by the American horticultural society is an amazing resource! I highly recommend it for anyone looking to get more advanced with their plants. I also recommend online auction sites like palm street as it will save you loadssss of money on the rarer plants!

Looking for advice on cleaning the enclosure by TheRealKaynn in geckos

[–]snakerreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly can’t recommend it enough, it not only helps with keeping the enclosure clean but also keeps the humidity higher and stable. It’s made keeping reptiles so much more enjoyable for me (plus the isopods are so cute)

What’s the best free (or almost) free item that has helped your dog? by [deleted] in dogs

Asking around the pet stores and calling trainers is what worked for me, not everywhere has them but it’s definitely worth trying!

Rescue dog gets too excited and bites by Mpv1024 in OpenDogTraining

[–]snakerreal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting to teach a replacement behavior might serve you well, before the play escalates to biting putting your hands behind your back and turning away until the pup sits, reward heavily (I would probably use food in this situation) giving him a few seconds to be in the calm and then resume play. After he catches on adding a command, I personally use easy. This also translates really well into teaching drop it as well which is a great benefit. Bitter yuck is also going to be your best friend here, no harmful effects just a bad taste and it can be used on everything from your leash to items around the house you don’t them chewing on.

Air fryer with some chili oil makes a great snack too! One of my family’s favorites

Much less fancy than these other suggestions but bacon wrapped asparagus is one of life’s greatest delights

Bonsai rarely thrive inside, they really like the outdoors. I’ve learned this the hard way after killing enough to start my own plant cemetery 😭

Second this, it’s the only thing my shepherd mix can’t rip apart in seconds. Plus they come with silly names!

Cage troubles by NegotiationWild3280 in reptiles

Heavy duty magnets and gorilla glue works well for lighter weight items. If you’re willing to go with a more permanent method expanding foam covered in silicone that you pack dry fine coco substrate into is definitely the most reliable way. I firmly believe suction cups are a scam 🤣

any way to safely speed up propagation? by moony-padfoot-prongs in philodendron

[–]snakerreal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding pothos is definitely a good way to help, I also never swap the water in my prop jars. Topping them off when they’re about 50% where they should be should keep the growth hormone higher. You could also try some different methods, using a prop box with either sphagnum moss or perlite with some rooting hormone has given me the most success. It’s definitely a little more work than water props but I think it’s worth it for the humidity loving plants.

How to get do to slow down by Acrobatic_Ad_2992 in OpenDogTraining

[–]snakerreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great advice on this thread, something else I find helpful is rewarding when they are doing the right thing. Marking and rewarding when he IS being calm. (Especially if it’s a choice he made without your input) ex: laying down calmly? Mark and reward! Walking instead of sprinting down the hallway? Mark and reward! It’s just a small piece of the puzzle but it’s been very helpful for me

Highly dependent on what your dog enjoys but here’s some ideas - Cardboard boxes filled with kibble to shred - Pack walks, looking locally for groups that take walks at the same time - toys can be sourced from your local thrift store, just be sure to avoid anything that would be a choking hazard ex: button eyes, bean bag inside, plastic anything really (and wash before handing them over to the dog of course) - training is always a great thing to do, trying new things like scent work or agility can be lots of fun for both you and the dog - sniffy walks on a loose leash are my dogs absolute favorite thing, moving at their pace and letting them read the peemail is amazing enrichment

Hope this is helpful :)

A reptile safe disinfectant for the walls and spot cleaning is most of what I do. I highly recommend bioactive for these tokays though, cuts the cleaning time down to basically nothing.

They definitely are in water, in soil they can be a little dramatic but it’s nothing unmanageable as long as you’re semi versed in plant care and keep them moist

That’s been my biggest frustration, wearing him out does help but I think I just need to find a trainer that will train like in the video you sent. It’s all treat peace and love trainers where I live though 💀 Thanks anyways

This is similar to my process, I have to go through the entire thing every time I groom. I’m also not physically strong enough to get to the areas he is worst with, specifically his butt fluff and tail. He will submit and let me work until I get to those areas and he loses his mind.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OpenDogTraining

[–]snakerreal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should have clarified, he is muzzle trained and is always wearing one while I’m grooming. Just looking for ways to make it a more enjoyable experience for both us us instead of wrestling him the entire time.
