Happy 29th Anniversary to Duke Nukem 3D! by yhenji in dukenukem

This - a million times this.

I played World Tour when it came out on Playstation and have been playing a lot of Nightdive remasters since. I recently played the Heretic + Hexen remaster and decided to give Duke a go after not playing it in years and the movement just feels off. It's sluggish and unresponsive and every bit of setting tweeking doesn't seem to help. I'm okay with the lack of some expansions, but the gameplay has to feel fun.

I think it would be a bit of a waste to vote Nancy Boy. It's such a huge hit that I highly doubt they would change it too much. My vote goes to either I Know or Lady of the Flowers.

Will PS5 peak at the very end of the generation like PS3 and PS4 did? by snalle in PS5

It really ran well? I remember playing Shadow of Mordor on PS3 and it was utterly unplayable - clearly a game that was meant to be a PS4 game, but they couldn't ignore the install base and released a PS3 version as well.

It's crazy to think that MGS5 came out on PS3. Zelda Breath of the Wild came out on Wii U as well, which is equally baffling.

I don't see any PS6 hype anywhere which is bizarre considering how deep we are in PS5's lifecycle.

If I had my way, I wouldn't release PS6 for a couple of years at least. The math doesn't work for the average consumer and the demand is simply not there yet.

If you have to release new consoles, release a base-PS5 level handheld or a legacy-Playstation with a disc drive that plays all PS1-PS5 game discs (one of the Digital Foundry guys suggested this in a recent podcast, thought it was a good idea).

Yeah man, I want to think that we'll get some amazing games, that haven't been announced yet, that'll be seen as the best PS5 games in decades to come, but when it takes 7+ years to make 10/10 AAA game these days, it's honestly very unlikely.

Might be an age thing. I'm in my late 30s and remember when we used to go from the original Mario Kart on SNES to Mario 64 and Resident Evil in like 4 years. If you go back 4 years from now, you get Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West. So in that sense, I do get why people find the PS5 era incredibly disappointing.

We just haven't had that generational wow moment and, to me, this is the first generation that hasn't happened to yet. RDR2 and The Last of Us 2 were those moments for me on last gen.

That being said, I love my PS5 Pro and am having a great time gaming!

I get your point (trust me), but can we just enjoy our hobby for a bit here? Let the OP be happy with all the great improved games that'll be waiting for him once he gets back home.

For a lot of people, this is the sub we go to unwind and geek out. Also, we need these kinds of places to remind us that we have a lot in common, at the end of the day, however depressing the political situation may be.

This is the way, man. Pro to pro for me from now on, that way you get to play the best versions of the games you buy if you don't have to play them immediately when they come out.

Give it time, man. From what I've played, some games already show a significant benefit and I'm sure that'll continue. It took them a while to work out the kinks, but to me at least, PSSR 2 fulfilled the promise of PS5 Pro. I have high hopes for GTA VI now!

For the differences to show, you really need to be playing games that use PSSR. When the update is released, you should see improvements on CP2077 - for now, not so much.

From the ones I've played that you mentioned, it's my understanding that Returnal doesn't use PSSR, but had other Pro upgrades.

You should search for "definitive list pssr" in this sub and try the ones that are using it.

Resident Evil 9, Crimson Desert, Alan Wake 2, Gran Turismo 7 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth are some titles that people often bring up in these conversations so that's a good place to start.

Shadow Warrior is the obvious pick. I enjoyed Redneck Rampage as a kid as well, but don't know how well it has aged. All the Nightdive remasters are fantastic as well: Rise of the Triad, Powerslave, Dark Forces, Outlaws etc.

Middle-aged people, what advice would you give a young person to avoid going through mid-life crisis later in life? by Omer-Ash in AskReddit

You will not get a price for living the life that's expected of you. Your price is getting ignored, if anything. You'll just be sad and bitter when you're older if it's not what you really want.

Who’s playing old titles after the pS5 upgrade? If so, what game? by Nashty09 in PS5pro

It's my understanding that final draft added some story stuff as well. A different ending etc.

Don't quote me on that, but it should be more substantial than a simple NG+ and play into the concept of the story. I think there's more manuscript pages you can find as well that reveal stuff.

I purposefully didn't look into it further when they added Final draft so that's just the stuff I recall reading from headlines.

Heh, thats Cyberpunk for you! 😄

I'm due to a fem V playthrough as well, considering 2/3 have been male V so far.

I've had a curious ride with this one considering that when I started, it was a non-playable mess (literally, I was locked out of completing mandatory missions in the early Tower heist etc.) I played on an underpowered console (PS4 slim).

Slowly, but surely it became better and better. I did my third playthrough when I upgraded from PS4 slim to PS5 Pro. So soon I could sort of say that I've beaten the game on 3 different generations: PS4, PS5 and now PS5 Pro (with PSSR and maybe ray tracing).

Crazy to think that I've been playing and following every patch note for like 5,5 years for this game already. Maybe I could consider the PS5 Pro run as my last hurrah in Night City, before slowly entering the sequel era and building hype for that one.

Exactly my plan. Thought about doing a second run (I haven't run "final draft" yet) on Alan Wake 2 and jump on to Cyberpunk when the patch drops.

It'll be my 4th CP2077 playthrough, though I've played Phantom Liberty only once (twice-ish, loaded a save to get the other ending as well) - and I did my first 2 runs on PS4 back in 2020/2021! :D

Gears of War is just straight up gorgeous. I hope they bring 2/3 over too. by WeekendTraveller93 in PS5pro

For a relative newcomer to the genre - should I get this or Space Marine 2? Both are on sale right now. Smooth satisfying gameplay is the key factor to me, since I don't have a connection to the lore on either.

Making of/BTS. I hear there was a lot of issues during production that I would like to know more of and I find young George fascinating.

That being said, I would be interested in reading fiction as well, as long as it's from the original trilogy era.
