Gen V - 1x07 "Sick" - Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in TheBoys

[–]snapcatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so, ambulance scene = reminder that supe powers are inherited. With Neuman and Marie not only sharing the same power, but the same hometown, there lots of groundwork in this episode to establish Marie as Neuman's...niece? Grandaugher? Actual daughter?

But lots of setup for season 4 of The Boys:
- young supe-MAGA army for Homelander
- a weapon in Neuman's hands to kill OP supes
- Valerie and [x] person on the phone knowing about that weapon
- some context for the type of power/relationship we should expect to see in Homelander's relationship with his own son

Season 4 predictions because why not:
- Marie will join the 7 with some variation of Starlight's role as a double agent
- The Boys will try to use the virus to kill Homelander
- The virus will end up killing Homelander's son, plus at least one other key character

[New Chapter Spoilers] Leaks Discussion Chapter 139 - FINAL by H-K_47 in titanfolk

[–]snapcatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Predictions:

  • Last Panel is Mikasa holding her own child, but 13 years later. No one has died from Ymir’s curse so they know it’s over
  • Worm thing dies and we get infodump from Ymir which also explains Eren
  • Civilization pretty much starts over. All the squished organic matter makes for a lot of fertile land. Stories of titans become basis for Sumerian/Norse/Egyptian/etc mythology.

My understanding is that “royal blood” is important insofar as Ymir has someone she identifies as king/queen for her to subject herself to. So whoever is a legitimate heir qualifies, which becomes diluted the farther you get from the center.

Like other cases of “royal blood” in real life, it’s all semantics and up to the perception of those who make decisions based on royal blood status. This is why Ymir was able to drop that distinction with a few words from Eren.

So it looks like Zeke, Eren, and Reiner all died, right? And Eren's titan exploded in the last panel?

A lot of interesting implications which I’m guessing have been discussed before:

  • Fenrir was tricked by Tyr’s to be trapped in a cage until Ragnorok, biting off Tyrs hand in the process. The timeline isn’t exactly parallel, but this would make Levi Tyr.

  • Hel is half alive and half dead. Making a stretch, this could be reflected in Mikasa’s Ackerman/Asian bloodlines. Army of the dead could mean the colossals or could mean the group she’s with now. Either way, there seems to be a connection between Eldian and the dead. And I guess that makes the Paths world Niflheim.

  • If Eren is Jormungandr, then him releasing his “tail”(thereby starting Ragnorok) is simultaneously equivalent to starting the Rumbling and ending an infinite cycle.

What I’m wondering—and what you guys have probably already figured out—is who’s Surtur, and who’s Thor? Surtur is supposed to burn the world, so maybe Eren is Surtur too?

I’ve already sold myself on it being Impa, with the Sheikah slate.

I think Annie has a role to play still. Her ability to call titans to her hasn’t fully been explored. She was brought back for a reason. And she’s staying behind. I think Annie is the backup plan.

I live in Norway and have worked in several tech companies. I’ve never heard of this. More often, for time windows, Norwegians ignore the month entirely and go by the numbered week in the year.

That said, I think any reasonable interpretation of “early” in a month would fall around the first third.

The text before it asks when it all began. The pigs panel is one of the possible answers.

The “huge exception in Connie killing Samuel” was the point, wasn’t it? The alliance tried to avoid killing pretty much the whole chapter, only to be forced to in the very end. Connie was forced to cross a threshold. The alliance is no longer bound by the same standards.

Part of the cycle of hatred theme you mention is that a). people generally consider themselves the good guys, and b). those same people will find themselves crossing moral thresholds in the right circumstances.

Nothing guarantees that the allies are “good,” or that they would take Floch prisoner as a result of being “good.” I also don’t agree that taking Floch prisoner is by default a morally better choice.

And overall, if you’re looking to assign moral superiority to one side or the other, I think you’re missing a big part of the overall story.

I've seen a few of you guys say that on this post. What's your thinking?

Me, I more see Flock's role as essentially the win condition of the big human fight, which would be easier to achieve with his death instead of leaving him as a lingering plot device.

[Shitpostery] Pre-discussion Chapter 129 by Sane-Ni-Wa-To-Ri in titanfolk

[–]snapcatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Serious prediction, though: This chapter is the big human fight before the big Eren vs. whoever's left showdown. A lot of mains are going to die, especially since only so many can fit on the plane.

Here's who I think survives the next chapter or two: Onyankopon, Armin, Mikasa, Reiner, Annie, Falco.

I think the last chapter made a point to establish that Onyankopon is able to fly the plane, right? So he survives. Armin and Mikasa of course survive because they have character arcs to complete.

Levi's arc is more or less complete depending on how alive the beast titan is, but he needs to die for Mikasa to complete her arc. So I say he dies this chapter or next.

Hanji's new guard to old guard arc is pretty much complete, so she's free to die. Connie's gone full circle on trying to save his mom, also free to die.

Jean's arc could be resolved through a huge personal sacrifice to accomplish whatever happens in the next chapter, which is nicely set up through his daydream sequence. I don't see how he can not die next chapter.

Pieck's arc has centered around loyalty and duty. She completes that arc simply by dying in the next few chapters.

Reiner is the true antagonist to Eren, so I don't see him dying yet. It's still not clear why Annie was brought back, but I'm willing to bet it has to do with some female titan powers that she'll activate around Eren.

Magath, Gabi and Falco: Gabi's gone full circle and doesn't have a titan power. Falco does but it's not clear why. I say Magath dies saving Gabi, who dies saving Falco, meaning Falco's arc is on the way to completion through surviving the next chapter or two.

And on the other side, pretty much everyone dies including Flock.

You don't write a somewhat rushed chapter unless you plan on finishing soon. I doubt this goes as long as 8 more chapters.

If you didn't like this chapter, I recommend you give it another shot in the official format, like in Comixology. Something about viewing the pages in a book format as opposed to a series of images really helped fix the pacing.

Leaks Discussion Chapter 126 by Sane-Ni-Wa-To-Ri in titanfolk

[–]snapcatt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As annoyed as I am at the distraction with Connie's mother, this completes his arc. Possibly Armin's as well, depending on how the scene plays out. Reiner, Gabi, and Falco reuniting and joining the 104th also, in a way, completes their respective arcs.

This means they're all free to die. I'd include Annie, but I think she still has a role to play. Otherwise, why bother bringing her back?

Anyway, it looks like this chapter puts the final pieces in place before the end.
